I do not force my kids to eat anything. I encourage them to try and eat different foods. I don't really have anything I don't allow. My 10 year old has a soda or a candy bar once in awhile and my 2 year old doesn't really eat sweets yet. My 10 year old is extremely picky though. I am a picky eater too so I can't expect too much.

I have a three year old and 8 month old.
The 8 month old eats formula and baby food. The 3 year old eats everything, she even likes sushi (but my wife doesn't, damn it).
I will require her to eat at least one bite of everything, except when I make very spicey dishes like curries and such.
I work in a chocolate factory, so we all eat a little too much chocolate, but we generally do not drink soda of any kind, and we do not eat fast food or much other junk food very often.

I don't force them to eat anything, but I do ask they at least take one bite. If they don't like it then they don't have to eat the rest. I don't let them eat a ton of candy. I usually let them pick one or two things out after dinner (depending on how well they ate). I don't let them drink Diet anything or Mt Dew. They always get a multi-vitamin before bed.

The only thing I don't let my child eat, drink rather, is soda. My mother always gives him soda when I am not looking though, because she spoils him. It pisses me off.

Other than that I let him eat almost anything, but if it's not so healthy I use moderation.

I never force him to eat something he doesn't like. Honestly I don't even know how to make him eat something he doesn't like. He is very hard headed and if he doesn't like it then he's not going to eat it.

I'm sneaky. I go through about 6 food processors a year. I pulverize raw veggies like broccoli, carrots, etc and mix it into things like hamburgers and macaroni and cheese. They don't know the difference and they can't fuss about having to eat their veggies. I do NOT allow my kids to eat too much sugar. They are NOT allowed ANY soda. They may not eat fake, processed foods that have ingredients I can't pronounce, either.

Naturally, they do end up eating crap food like those little snack crackers at school. They are going to get cupcakes at school and birthday parties.... Those are a few exceptions. Their uncle took them to McDonalds and they HATED it (thank god). The little one even threw up his french fries on Uncle Ians convertable.... Muhhahaha!

There's no reason to be a Nazi about their nutrition. A little bit of unhealthy stuff here and there isn't going to hurt them any. I don't get mad or anything. But it IS my responsibility as a parent to make sure that I do everything in my power to make sure they get lots of fruits and veggies most of the time. As for fruits, I am a master at carving fun shapes. Apples get turned into stars. Bananas get raisins stuck in them and I tell the boys that I found it on the ground and it's got pooh stuck on it.... they love that (although they know I am joking).

I will not let my daughter drink pop, eat anything with artificial sweeteners and I won't let her have honey or seafood. I also will only let her have candy on very special occasions. I think that because I have not let her eat a bunch of crap she is good about eating healthy things, I will never force her to eat anything.

Let's see, yes, no, and definitely not.

I offer my child healthy foods and snacks and allow her to choose what and how much she eats. I rarely buy junk foods, but if we are out or at someone else's house, and she wants something junky that other kids are having, I don't prohibit it.

I remember being forced to eat stuff that I HATED when I was growing up.....so I do NOT force my son to eat anything he hates. And I can't really think of anything I don't allow him to eat.

i make my kids take a "polite bite" of everything we serve. we serve a variety of healthy things regularly, and sometimes cookies, ice cream, etc. [edit, lol, no i don't force them to take a polite bite of cookies if they don't want, that just goes for healthy foods]

the only food i don't let my kids eat are choking hazards for their age, or foods they are allergic to (or that their sibling has a life-threatening allergy to, since i don't want it on anyone's hands). one serving of french fries or a couple cookies is not going to be the end of the world in a bunch of thin kids who are eating lots of fruits, veggies, etc.
