You should have put this in Polls & Surveys....
But I had two older silings so I was young...around 10. The oldest was 16 at that time. Before that my mom didn't work so it wasn't an issue.
If you're looking for support for a certain age remember this....it is more about maturity and not age that matters. If a a child can be home without getting scare to death, killing themselves, having a bunch of people over & setting the house on fire...then they probably can be left alone. (I believe that some states have a rule about it being at least 12 though)
My sister was 14 when she caught the kitchen on fire...too busy talking on the phone to remember that she had started to cook. So obviously she WASN'T old enough to be at home alone.

I was 4.5 when I began walking to and from kindergarten alone (I started school a year early). The neighbor was supposed to watch me after school, but some days she wasn't home yet so I stayed alone for a short while until she got there. The next year, at age 5.5, we moved, there was no neighbor to watch me, and I was home alone for a couple of hours after school every day until my mom got home.
Way too young, of course, but I survived.

I was 10. Only a 15-20 minute walk home from school. And that was with my brother, who was 9, I was responsible for him. I hope this helps you.

At 11 I was babysitting my younger sister who was 7 at the time. It's technically not legal to be home alone until you are 12 though. In PA anyway....
