there are plenty of children all over the world called Mohammed - and they don't have abt( meaning the slave of) before their name - so why has a british white western woman being made an example out of?? IS this verging ont he ridiculous, in African countries there are plenty of children called moses, jesus - who even though written in the Koran as as a mere Phrophet but in the bible in Christianity is called Lord, also the son of God. TEDDY bears - do not actually exsist in the wild, I havent heard of a species of called teddy.

ALso doesn't it also say in the Koran that the phrophet mohammed MARRIED and 8 year old girl - people who know and read the koran can confirm this. Id someone has a differnt view on this im not trying to offend - just trying to understand, this dounel egdged sword of information

well there have been SO many different opinions on here - and controversial differnces of date issues over the age of Aisha, however are what people saying that this is a whitewashed wall????? It is true as one person pointed out that 300 years ago a woman was burned at the stake - however women are beheaded and executed by machine gun every day - to this present day and fortunately this vile biggoted, chavenistic, heretical practise went out, throughout history we have seen men from all over the globe sitting in places of prominense- position and authority, and using the term of being sent from God as an excuse to hurt people and oppress women, and of course - the poor. I will have difficulty choosing the best answer - as so many different people have contributed informative opinions and beliefs, plus there are several opinions that I could choose as they best answer, but I feel the truth maybe that there is no answer - to a person who uses religion as an excuse to persecute - maybe?

They will use any excuse to torture a woman, Especially a western woman.

Learn the Qur'an before you say what's written in it-Muhammed is barely mentioned there. Most of the Prophets focussed on in the Qur'an are Moses, Jesus, Noah, Solomon...oh and we've got one chapter dedicated to Mother Mary. Yeh. A woman. look! We've got a woman in our Qur'an and she's doesn't even need a man to give her a baby. That's written in the Qur'an too! Girl power!

The religion is 1400 years old. Some Muslims like myself believe Aisha was 18 years old and not 8 when she married the Prophet. It is not for you to decide the history of a civilisation more than a thousand years ago, who are any of you to judge. At least women didn't get burnt at the stake for having a brain which is more than I can say for the European Church barely 300 years ago which is still a thousand years or more after women were given rights to study and work IN THE QUR'AN.

Most Muslims, if not all believe that what that woman faced was wrong and needn't have gone through it in the first place. I'd say that whoever reported her must've have been someone of authority and is probably in deep **** for getting his/her religion AND country into more trouble.

As for moderate Muslims speaking out...hmph...as if you lot would listen anyway.

Read the Qur'an. It outlines very carefully what non worship of Muhammed will do to a person. The religion of Islam is a harsh master. It is not God but it believe it IS God. And so a poor defenseles woman who was trying to JOIN her students together in compassion is punished for it with lashes ( slicing open her flesh with a whip ). Typical of Islamists who worship themselves and not God.

God predicted that evil would be the prince of the world until the end of days.. it is not a joke. It was predicted that a huge religion would come along and sweep the world with violence and evil just before the end of the world ( that is some of the reason I look at the religion of Islam as , well ok God said this would happen ) .

Muhammed married a little girl of six.. Ayesha .. consummated ( in this case the word consummation means rape ) the marriage with her when she was eight years and nine months old .... He claimed God presented her to him in a dream ( he was fantasizing about a little girl ( paedophilia ) and claimed some "angel" "uncovered" her naked body to him and said she was to be his "wife". And yes.. an entire religion worships this paedophiliac who also claimed God told him that breaking the ten commands is ok when it comes to marriage/divorce as well. This religion also claims it is good and holy to circle a broken meteorite ( to which has been attached a silver collar ) seven times and then bow before it..kiss it.. touch it.. and ask it for baraka ( good luck is the closest translation I can come up with ) or to touch or kiss the wall near it. ( no joke though you will see people object to what I write here ) .

Some people in that religion have even decided that the poor woman should get the death penalty for her supposed evil attitude toward the religion of Islam. ( no joke. )

Sickening but true. Do not let anyone tell you this stuff is not true. You CAN read the entire Qur'an yourself to learn the truth about it so you do not have to read any junk from people who are in Islam but do not care what is written into their own religion.. ( like kill all the jews..kill anyone who does not obey Muhammed ( a man who espoused adultery and breaking the ten commands of God and claimed God said it is ok ) .. do not let yourself get sucked under the water and drown by this religion. And do not let anyone else get sucked under either. Read it for yourself and then show them yourself. Do NOT let someone else tel you what it says.. just read it.

I suspect the reverence Muslims have for their prophet borders on worshipful idolatry. If they did not think so highly of him, they would not be outraged at the trivial matter of a soft toy getting a classroom name - the same name as one of the school-boys. They think it's okay for sinful boys and men to bear the prophet's name because Muslim men are God's spokesmen on earth. But if an inanimate object is given that name, suddenly they are horrified in case the prophet is associated with a created object that might be adored. But they adore the prophet already! And Muslims called Mohammed are created beings. If those men are not worshipped (due to having the prophet's name) then the bit of cloth is not worshipped either. If it's an honor for a baby boy to be named Mohammed, then it's an honor for a school toy as well. The kids love cuddly toys. Don't they want them to grow up to love Mohammed, their prophet?

The trouble is, they honor their prophet so much they are in serious danger of commiting polytheism. Methinks they protest too much, to misquote Shakespeare.

Now i may get into trouble for this but what the hell.
A friend of mine who is muslim asked me why i thought most burkas were black. Because hes got a sense of humour I answered `because if they were red I wouldn`t know where to post my letters`. He wet himself laughing and he`s told all his muslim friends who thought it was very funny.
If you don`t have a sense of humour then whats the point of life. People take things too seriously.
As i`ve said in another answer the judge was called mohammed but i didn`t his parents on trial.

Okay. Ill start off by saying that Prophet Mohammad did not marry an 8 year old girl. If you read the Holy Quran you would know this. I dont know what Quran you are reading (yahoo answers Quran?) Anywho.. The subject of her age was controversial. Many say it she was nine but actually moved out of her parents house to live with him when she was 14. This was not out of the ordinary in 500 ad.

I dont really understand your first paragraph. Someone named her teddy bear Mohammad?...She obviously shouldnt have been imprisoned. And It depends on your country and culture. Some Muslim countries may take this seriously. But most of them would not care.

Yes, Mohammed marred an 6 year old to offer an orphan protection. He consummated the marriage when she was 9, which is nasty in 21st century America but which was normal until relatively recently in the history of humans.

But the teddy bear thing? that's just plain stupid. She didn't even name the thing - some kid named Mohammed did.

Kitty,
We should not judge another country's laws. They have the right to enact their own laws and their citizens are supposed to follow them. There are things in every country that would incite anger in the beliefs of others. I do not judge others and would suggest that we not judge those of another culture. Please try to calm down and breathe a little easier. You and I are never going to completely understand their culture and they probably are never going to understand ours either.
