That wouldn't work because times have changed. Now we have to prosper and create wealth so that it can be shared with all the preachers who need to have more wealth then the people they are preaching to. So if everyone quit their jobs, threw away all their possessions, bought a mule, and wandered the earth they would have no way to make the preachers rich and they would not hear the word of god and find their way to heaven.

Prosperity isn't wrong by itself. But there are plenty of rich people who are not happy or spiritual. True abundance is being rich spiritually and materially. Notice that those types tend to share with others. Instead of seeking more and more and more. A cup that runneth over vs a cup that can never be filled.

Most Buddhists live a life with no materials. But they live in a simple country. If someone tried to do that in a big city or state, they would be called crazy now. Perhaps there is a Savior among us now and we do not realize it.

Jesus was Rich when HE was a Little Baby Boy.
Three Wise Men brought HIM Gold, Frankinsense and Myhrr.
Very Expensive Stuff.
Jesus didn't make Money HIS GOD.
(The "Love" of Money is the Root of all Evil)
not money.

Better not have a mule, you might be carnal and punch it. As for prosperity, it is not wrong as long as you don't put it ahead of God. Oops, I just remembered, we don't use mules in the 23rd century.

I wish I knew what prompted this question, and the added comment.
There is nothing wrong with prosperity, but it does carry with it certain problems, dangers really.
I say along with the writer in Proverbs, Give me neither poverty nor riches...

What???
Jesus has this parable about three servents who their master gave a coin ... one servant multiplied the coin into 5 coins ... the master was pleased ... the next servant double the coin, and the master was pleased ... then the last servant burried it in the ground to preserve the coin, and maintain prosperity ... and the master was miffed.

Nothing wrong with prosperity. It's how you choose to use that blessing or not use that blessing that makes the difference.

Prosperity isn't wrong. What you do with your prosperity should be the question.
