Why does the bible say that our planet is Flat???

Also does the bible mention any of the other planets around other suns??

The bible says, "Angels on all 4 corners of the earth". What does that sound to you??

The concept of a bible promoting a "flat earth" usually comes from these passages:
Job 38:12-14
Matthew 4:1-11
Daniel 4:10-11
However, all of these passages can be can interpreted differently. In the case of Daniel, it's a dream, and in the case of Matthew, it's an obvious allegory. The Job reference is based on the words "edge" and "seal" (a sphere has no edges and clay under a seal is flat) [1]. However, this is also up for differing interpretations, and it's probable that most Christians throughout history have known that the earth is a sphere. [2]

As for planets around other suns, that would be covered by the inclusive word "stars."

Nowhere in the Bible does it say the world is flat. There are some scriptures that can be taken to show that it is a sphere (not "round").

The Bible writers do mention a difference between the sun, the moon, the constellation (which we would call the "stars" today) and the "host" (which we would call the planets). But it never specifically states that they revolve around our sun. Nor does it mistakenly state that the sun, moon and stars revovled around the earth (as science taught for thousands of years even before the Bible was written). It does state that they "wander through the heavens" (which is the origin of the word planet, which means "wanderer").

But, the Bible is not a science book. It is a book that deals with the nature of God and his relationship with man. As it already runs nearly the length of all 7 Harry Potter novels put together, God decided not spend a lot more space on pointless things. As the movement of the planets has nothing to do with the subject of salvation, he did not bother with it.

People still use the phrase "the four corners of the earth" and even travelling "to the ends of the earth." Are you suggesting that these modern people believe the earth is flat?

If you're going to object that the Bible says the earth is flat, you need to show a passage where the Bible actually says that, not a passage where you have inferred that.

The prophet Isaiah also tells us that the earth is round: "It is he that sits upon the circle of the earth". This is not a reference to a flat disk, as some skeptic maintain, but to a sphere. Secular man discovered this 2,400 years later. At a time when science believed that the earth was flat, is was the Scriptures that inspired Christopher Columbus to sail around the world.

It is He who sits above the CIRCLE of the earth,
And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers,

Job 26:7 says that the earth is hanging on nothing.....Greeks thought it sat on Atlas, others on the back of a giant space turtle with 4 elephants on his back, a giant snake wrapped around swimming through a cosmic sea.

The earth is a circle. Isaiah 40:22 various Bibles use circle, globe, sphere or round.

There is one place (not sure of now) where things are described as looking as if they go around the earth (used as a false proof text of the geocentric theory of the universe the RC church used to propogate). It is not describing a science fact though.

Morning stars are also used of the angelic sons of God. Revelation 22:16, Job 38:7 to describe how they merely reflect Jehovah's light and are not the light source themselves. Jesus, as his firstborn only begotten son, is called the perfect reflection of Jehovah. Hebrews 1:3.

Jehovah himself is called the Sun or source of light. His sons, the morning stars.

The morning stars in astronomy are the planets which are not the source of light, but merely reflect the brightness of the sun and shine it back to earth as stars. A fitting symbolism of how Jehovah alone always existed and is all powerful and his sons, including the brightest Jesus Rev. 22:16 merely reflect his light and knowledge as the planets/morning stars reflect the brightness of the light directed at them from the sun.

Another proof that Jesus is not the Almighty God.

I am amused that skeptics find problems with the Bible by adopting a "hyper-literal" reading of the text. This is what they are always accusing believers of.

It is unclear what you are referring to. Perhaps "corners of the earth" or "ends of the earth" (depending on the translation you are looking at). These are merely figures of speech for "very far away."

Job 26:7 (thought to be one of the oldest books in the Bible), states: "He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; He suspends the earth over nothing." (NIV).

It was written back in the day when they believed it was flat. They didn't have better knowledge. Ignore the fools who ask where it says that, they are reading revised bibles and choose not to know what their holy book said.
