People get named Mohammed every day, so they made a connection, not realizing the "idolatry" they were committiing. The difference is that the bear was manufactured by people, not formed by God. Even though Ms Gibbons' intentions were good, people don't take kindly to outsiders causing "blasphemies". The opinion of children is not a credible excuse.

It's a sensitive subject for Muslims. Western Culture has been telling them "how to live" for generations. People have a right to conduct their internal affairs as they wish, and foreigners have an obligation to respect local custom.
