Okay, just need a lil' advice..My brother heard voices that told him to drive so he took off down the highway in moms car and ended up in a high speed chase w/ cops. He is off his meds again due to his Dr just leaving him w/ no scripts. He has never done anything like this before and I seriously doubt he actuallly tried to hit the cop, he just puuled over saw guns pointed at him freaked out and took off again. He is not violent and all he does is go to church, pray , and read the bible. So If anyone has ever had this situation or anything similar please help!

he needs a GOOD lawyer...He may be able to get off because of his "documented" medical condition

First I am sorry to hear. I believe you, but sadly this isn't going to add up to much sometimes in court situations. It will depend on why he didn't stop. If his IQ is 65-75 he may have a chance of getting out of this situation. If he has a high IQ, and is found to be schizophrenic, it may not help his situation in court. Remember that prisons are full of people with severe mental illness.

He's gonna need a good lawyer to help him out. Try legal aid in your area. Also, he needs to get treatment so he can prove to the court that he's really remorseful and taking steps to correct his life. That's why all those hollywood stars go into rehab as soon as they get busted. It helps them when the court case comes around.

I wish your brother, your family and you all the best! :)

the best thing for you is to have your brother's doctor go to the court to prove that your bro. is schizophrenic and show what happens when he is w/o meds. the worst that can happen is your bro. will go to a home for the mentally ill and possibly won't get charged.

Copies of medical records need to be provided to his attorney. If he is indigent, he needs to contact the Public Defender office, if he hasn't.

He sounds dangerous without his medication. He needs to see his Dr immediately and perhaps be hospitalised or committed.
What if he had killed someone or himself?

Awesome story.

He could've killed someone in that chase.

I don't care if "...he is not violent and all he does is go to church, pray , and read the bible."

That doesn't tell me anything...

Only a good defense attorney can help him now.

Please do not rely on the "stuff" you'll get here.
