Fasika's was located at 2447 18th Street - in the heart of Adams Morgan & was a great Ethiopian restaurant. I proposed to my wife there 18 years ago - but I saw that they had a fire in 2005 & their website says they will re-open soon - but the phone number listed is disconnected. We're going to try Dukem in Baltimore this week-end. We also used to go to the Red Sea, Meskerem, and Zed's in DC. Azeb's closed in Baltimore - or became the 5 seasons & is no longer just Ethiopian.

I'm sorry, but it never reopened. The place where Fasika used to be is now some bar (whose name slips my mind right now), like Adams Morgan needs another place serving bar food. *Sigh* Red Sea has also closed and is now an organic place called Bossa. Luckily, Meskerem is still open, and there are a couple of Ethiopian places down 18th Street and in the U Street corridor.

It's been hit-miss for us after our favored Red Sea closed.

Dukem (1114 -1118 U Street NW) filled the void until we found Lalibela (1415 14th Street NW @ P Street NW), which is now among our monthly dining stops for Ethiopian. We've found Addis Ababa (8233 Fenton Street, Silver Spring, Maryland) to also be quite good.

Many folk are now raving about Etete Ethiopian Restaurant (1942 9th Street NW) but it has been too crowded when we've tried to check it out.
