what does the validity of the Bible have to do with whether or not you have had a good life?? You make no sense. Have you read the Bible- can you tell me what man in the Bible had a good life? Every one that God used suffered trials and tribulations- they went through things that seemed impossible but served to sharpen them, sanctify them, strengthen them and grow them in wisdom and knowledge. Jesus said in this life we WILL suffer trials and tribulations- He also said He has given you a choice- blessings or cursings- this does not mean you choose a good life or a bad one- it means you choose the attitude you are going to have regardless of your circumstances- are you going to allow them to change oyu for the better- are oyu going to stand on God's word and His promises, obey Him and follow after Him and be a blessing to others, allowing the joy of the Lord to be your strength and carry oyu through the trials or are oyu going to allow hte trials to breed in you bitterness, envy and anger that can only result in curses and despair.
The only thing you have control over is you- you are going to deal with trials and hardships- you cannot always control your circumstances and God will allow these things to root out of you what should not be there - you alone control your attitude and how you respond to the trials and hardships- are you going to be a blessing or are you going to constantly whine about not being blessed?

The Bible is true! It was written by God. Man may have literally written down the words, but God inspired it. It is a true book. It is the complete revelation of God's will to man. It was not written by some "American". It is THE WORD of God given to the whole world for every generation. I could go on for days...basically I agree, read the Bible and then see how you feel. Everyone has struggles and trials, some more than others. In the end God takes care of His children

I'm sorry your life has not been what you'd hoped it would be.
Regarding the authenticity of the Bible.... the noteable research on this subject is exhaustive and readily available for you to study.
I will warn you that just as in any research... you'll find big-worded studies on the pro and con. You'll have to use some discernment to pickout the obviously biased ones or flawed ones.
Anyway, the Bible has been subjected to the same authentication tests that all literature of antiquity is subjected to in order to make sure it's not just a fancy hoax.
The dead sea scrolls found in the early/mid 1900's has given credibility to the old testament text that what we read today is what was written 3000 - 4000 years ago.
The New Testament text and especially the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) have been scrutinized exhaustively and they have shown themselves to be unequivocally authentic. There are nearly 5,000 discovered copies of the original text in many different languages. When all of these copies were cross referenced with each other it became very clear that they all said the same thing. Yes, there were typo's and mis-spellings, etc. But, with that many copies it makes it very easy to dispell purposeful errors or changes.
The next test has to do with the number of years gone by from the actual event and the first written account of the event. In the case of the N.T. -- most of it was written within 20-70 years after the event of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.
No other literature of antiquity can even come close to the number of copied manuscripts or the shortness of time from the event to the first written accounts of the event.
The short time span between event and written account is supremely relevant because when the gospels were written they were read by people who were actual eyewitnesses to the events being described. Many of these people were unbelieveing non-christians some of whom may even have been active participants in the event of persecuting and murdering Jesus Christ.
So what....
So that means that if the gospel writers had exaggerated or used any creative license to alter the truth for the purpose of manipulating history then those writers would have been exposed as frauds right from start. The gospels would have been dismissed and we likely would have never seen them!
So maybe the apostles were talented, devious liars capable of fooling the masses?
What happened to the apostles? 11 of them died martyrs deaths and 1 died in exile. It's obvious, that if Jesus' resurrection was a lie then the apostles would have had to be accomplices to the lie.
Who is willingly to die for a lie? You may argue that many people die for a lie and I would agree that the degree of sacrifice speaks nothing about the truthfulness of the cause. But.... nobody dies for a lie that they know is a lie! Therefore, the apostles truly believed in the risen Jesus Christ as their Lord & Savior.
The only thing left to contemplate is the truthfulness of the message. Since the apostles accurately recorded what Jesus Christ actually did and said then.... Is what Jesus said really the truth?
Who really cares if the apostles accurately recorded Jesus Christ's claims and who really cares if the apostles genuinely believed Christ if what Christ said was a lie!!!
So this is the real question that we must wrestle with!
Don't even try to argue that Jesus Christ was a good, moral teacher with a good message for living a life of integrity. His self-made claims will not allow for that option.
He claimed to be God!
Now c'mon and reason with me over that one statement....
You have only 1 of 3 categories to put Jesus in once he makes this claim:
1. Is He a liar (making him not good or moral)
2. Is He a lunatic (making him not a worthy teacher)
3. Is He Lord (making Him worthy to be worshiped)
The evidence to counter your accusation of the Bible being a work of fiction is exhaustive.
However, no one can eliminate the step of faith required of each and every one us to believe in Jesus Christ or to reject Jesus Christ. Neither argument can be irrefutibly proven.
You have to choose to believe one or the other and your choice will be made by faith.

The Bible isn't fiction, that is a fact. Read it and you will see that nowhere does it promise a great life on earth. If you believe in it and follow it's principles it promises a great after life. God gave you free will. The fact that you have not had a great life is your fault. Look at the decisions you made in life and try not to repeat them. Don't blame the bible, your parents, America, global warming or any other exucuse you can dream up. Look at yourself. Remember, if you are tough on yourself, life gets a lot easier.

Could be. But lots of things written down centuries ago have been fulfilled. If you really have a heart of understanding you can see something very special and unique within the pages, between the lines, but you can't get there with human intellect.
Besides, if it was a great american novel it would be made to sell with things like the author's name in bigger print than the title.

Is that really the reason you question your faith? People of all faiths some times dont have the best of lives. If, on the other hand you're not sure then explore your faith. It says in the bible to test all things and keep only the good. I'm personally not Christian, but I do believe in that verse.

The Bible doesn't promise a trouble free life.
But it does promise peace through belief in Jesus Christ within all circumstances.
Read Philippians 4:6-7 count your blessings
I'm sure you have some -sometimes you have to think about how things could be much worse . . . and will see then what you have in blessings.

You are not promised a good life for being faithful, infact just the opposite. Jesus didn't exactly pass in his sleep while on the beach with a rum and coke did he? Your quality of life has nothing to do with the authenticity of the bible.

Nobody has a perfect life and the Bible never claimed that you would, so don't question it.
It was written before there was an America so I doubt it was the great American novel.
I believe it 100%
