If we could keep Christ central as you say it would be a greater world . His birthday is a gift to the world no matter what the day ( and it was changed )In fact I used to tell my kids and people that Christmas is every day because Christ is born in some ones heart every day . What did He get for gifts on His birthday ??? Nothing the angels , poor shepherds and a few animals were there beside his folks, in a very poor surrounding . He gives us another gift when He died and then arose, so how can we out give the giver (Christ)

The new catholic encyclopedia states the date of Christ's birth is not known, furthermore, the birth of Jesus was assigned a date of the winter solstice because on this day the pagan devotees of Mithra celebrated the "dies natalis solis inviti" birthday of the invincible sun. On Dec 25,274 Christmas was originated, at a time when the cult of the sun was particularly strong in Rome. Satan has cultivated Christmas into a haven of lies and paganism to glorify himself. Is it any wonder that those who chose to worship the God of Abraham do not participate in these worldly escapades?

I think millions of Christians know that Jesus was not born in Dec 25 but we still celebrate his birthday on that day so no, the day is not important to me.

Mm I see what you are saying though am not religious myself. I was under the impression however (and Im not here to cause any trouble just want some answers myself) that Dec 25th wasn't actually the day he was born, because that is not known for sure, but a day that was given. I'm sure dec 25th had some siginificance but I don't know what, Perhaps you could clear that one up for me!!

In the first place, for all of those Atheist "Bible Scholars" the bible clearly tells that Jesus was born in September, not in the spring.
to find the proper date of birth, you look at when Mary took Jesus to the temple to be circumcised.
it states that there was a woman there praying all night, there is only one day in which the temple was open to the public all night.
and by following the Jewish calendar, you will find that this was in September.......-
which would make his conception date in December, and we as Christians believe that it is conception that is when life begins not at birth.
by celebrating Christmas in December, we are celebrating his conception.
and if you look at all of the Christian holidays, they coincide with the Jewish holy Feast days.
of the 7 holy Feast days, 6 have been completed, only one is left, and this one will be completed when Jesus returns.
that is why the Bible says we will know the season of his return.

Yes. If we were all to keep Jesus central in our lives and pay more attention to His teaching, the world would be a better place. Although it's lovely to have a time of year that we can especially reflect on and celebrate Jesus' birth, Christmas in general has become so commercialised that for many, the true meaning has been totally forgotten.

Of course, Absolutely. Most scholars around the world agree that the focal point of history is the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.

I agree. The 25th of December was actually a pagan holiday so it initially had nothing to do with the birth of Christ. It was chosen in an effort to ease pagan transition into Christianity.

As my beliefs are truly not important to any one but MYSELF I will spare you all in the details of what I believe, but I must say "The WingHunter" is sharing a bit of truth on the subject of Christmas. For the record tho....I am NOT Pagan.

Read up on the orgins of "christmas" or "winter solstice" before celebrating the "holiday" again....especially those that consider themselves "christians". Do your research, it is so widely available now days.

I don't care what day he was born! All I know is that I am thankful for him and I praise and worship him everyday of my life. Christmas is just a joyous time of year to celebrate with friends and family and to remember him and be greatful for his birth.
