Any one notice that almost every war is based around religion. Maybe religion is a ploy to fight which would make Jesus and Muhammad like dictators. What do you think?

Since religion is at the core of a person's world view, it would be very difficult indeed to have a war, for whatever reason, without some religious component. Which is not to say that religion is the proximate cause of war.

Historically, there has generally been a close association between religion and the state. The Pharoahs, for example, and a number of Roman and Japanese emperors, were deified. In Europe, apart from the participation in government of various bishops, kings were thought to rule by divine right.

As far as I know, the US is the first government which, since its inception, has not incorporated some religion in its structure, in spite of its principles being based largely on the Bible. Although religion has been a factor, I don't think you can say that the US has EVER fought a war for religious reasons. The current conflict has nothing to do with religion on our part, although it is a major factor for our enemies.

Ever notice that every war is based around people? Ever notice that people are passionate about religion? Ever notice that People looking to start a war tend to find reasons that people will be passionate about?

Religion is not the cause, but it often becomes a convenient tool and/or a convenient scapegoat.

The primary motivation behind almost every war is profiteering, therefore greed and avarice are the causes of almost all wars. Ethnic racism is another oldie but goodie. Religion is only a hostage to the perpetrators, carried with the poor soldier forced to risk his life who turns strongly to the only thing beyond his own abilities to get him through the combat.

Religion is often manipulated for the power of others, you could make a historical argument of Muhammad as a dictator, but Jesus is a far cry from such a title.

The big difference between Islam and Christianity is that a Muslim will kill for his faith, while a true Christian will die for his faith (without killing). I don't see any wars today being started by Christians, but most of the wars today are started by Muslims. Christians today are only involved in wars as a defense against Islam, such as in Iraq.

All religions are fiction. All the devout believers are naive. Why can't people wake up and see what life is....and join it with the rest of us.
