I am already working for a company, however they say that my employment paperwork has been put on hold for a reason which they cannot disclose and that I will have to speak with the Director of HR when she returns. What does this mean? It has already been 5 weeks and I am getting nervous. Should I look for other employment?

Also...do you think they don't really want to hire me? Are they trying to frustrate me to the point of quitting aka force me out?

The company you are actually working for may just not want to hire you for whatever reason. If it's been 5 weeks then I'd be concerned and at least look for other options because you wouldn't want them to end your employment and have to start completely from scratch. Good luck!

It doesn't sound good. In most cases an employer checks your references, work history and education before you are hired and then they never look at your resume again unless you have done something "bad" that is giving them a reason to force you out on.

Interesting. A lot of HRs check out all the things you put in your application. So. Did you fib on your resume at all? Only you can answer that. I'd hate to see you lose employment at Xmas time.

Wait it out. It may be they have a simple question you need to clarify. HR paperwork is highly confidential and not just anyone at the company can discuss the issue with you.

If you didn't lie on your application about anything, you should have no worries.

edit: unless your background check showed a felony you didn't tell them about, they won't just dump you without checking it out first.

Are you getting a paycheck?

Are you actually "working" for them, right now.

If you are then don't worry about it.

If you are not working and not recieving any money, then HELL YEA! tell them F off and find another job.
