OK, I know it isn't all Muslims that are extreme, but these recent events;
the 9/11 attacks, 7/7 attacks, the British teacher being jailed, losing our identity as a nation.....
These are giving Islam a terrible name and it is seen as a religion somewhat stuck in the past with its appaling laws, inequality and terrible Human Rights record.

What are your thoughts?

I don't think it's all that slow, judging from what I see on the Internet and in particular here on Answers. Fact is, I would be surprised if there were no anti-Muslim feeling in Britain, given what I have seen. Same as with the US, there are plenty of Muslims who live in places where it is safe for them to speak out against the terrorists, but not many of them do so. Why? Either they agree with the terrorists (bad) or they fear that no matter where they live, the terrorists will cause serious trouble for them (also bad).

Face it, Islamic countries really ARE stuck in the past, and in a pretty lousy past at that.

It is sad, as there are a lot of Muslims that are nice. But the nasty ones 9/11 7/7 stupid freaks is Sudan, are making all look bad. But I believe that if the decent Muslims don't want to be judged by all, then they have to help themselves. Show us that not all Muslims are not like that. I know it is a sad thing for them to have to do.
But the police have to do it, black people have to do it.
If you get 100 police officers and 10 are racists idiots, then we will call the whole 100 officers racists. If there are 100 black people and 5 mug an old lady, then the whole 100 will be seen as muggers. It happens around my area all the time. It is up to the good coppers and the good black people to show that they not ALL bad. So the good Muslims, should stand up to those BAD Muslims, and show that they are good, and do not believe nor act like the 9/11 7/7 and sudan....muslims.
I hope you get where I'm coming from?

What about the lady that got 200 lashes and disappeared???
These things have been going on over there for centuries only now are they comming into CNN or the press.
It is not only in Britian that this is happening. The USA has a very strong anti-Muslim climate. In our sister city in Australia it is even worse. YOu should hear what the kids say about muslims.
They have been doing human rights abuses for a long time thousands of years in fact. So they are not going to change unless something major happens to make them change.
When they continue to torture and kill each other no one said anything. But then they started to branch out and include the rest of us. Actually I am glad they did. Maybe now something will be done. It is not the people, it is the religious leaders the muslim clerics fault.

You're right. All it takes is the actions of a few extremists, like the terrorists on 9/11 and 7/7, and the man who assassinated Theo Van Gogh, the grandson of the legendary painter Vincent Van Gogh, for making a video sympathetic to young Muslim women who enter forced marriages--and then, in the minds of the masses, it damages the reputation of an entire religion!

You know, most Muslims are opposed to the terrorists attacks in New York, London and Madrid. Most Muslims think the murder of Theo Van Gogh was abhorent.

One of my very close friends, who is a Turkish-Muslim girl my age, is basically indistinguishable from Christian girls, because she's so ordinary. Most Muslims are ordinary people, like me an you. And yet, because of a few extremists, the entire Muslim world looks bad. If you want my opinion on that, I think it's very, very sad. People need to realize that Muslims are good people and not think bad of them just because of a few crazy extremists.

I think they must know that the rest of the world thinks Islamic nations are OCD about staying "stone-age" and they're becoming almost defiant about it. I don't understand why they don't catch up with the rest of the world! Do they not know they are one of the most despicable Human Rights violators on the planet? China has nothing on them!

I believe they MUST modify their archaic ways or risk crumbling as a civilization and religion. The statistics quoted frequently by them that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world is just silly propaganda initiated by those who stand to gain the most by fudging the numbers to sway the minds of the gullible masses.

we always have to have someone to hate don't we?

When the European countries colonised the rest of the word, what did Asian countries do? Send our men to join England to die in the war. Where did science start? Primarily in Persia-a Muslim nation, before our libraries were stripped bare by the Church. In Andalusia, now known as Spain, Muslims, Jews and Christians lived peacefully side by side for centuries, before being seperated and booted out, yet again by the Church. When Europeans took slaves from Africa, some of these African countries were Muslim. Muslim women were given the right to vote, study and work before colonisers came and brainwashed natives into following their way of grooming a 'proper lady'.

And you want to ask why we've got fanatics?

Okay, so living in the past is no help. However Muslim countries acually do take in western values, even places like Saudi Arabia have places where they do serve alcohol, it's just that you need to know where. Muslims aren't comfortable when they get tourists doing topless sunbathing on their beaches and building nightclubs full of vice in a land full of family values but who the hell are we, eh? Just a bunch of brown nuts who need to shut up and follow Western values because those are the only ways to live?

I don't sympathise with fanatics and constantly get shunned by them everyday. Their hatred doesn't represent Islam, it's a result of years and years of slaving after the West like a pathetic dog. Even now we have to do so just to earn our money to support our oil based countries such as in Arabia. Send them back home? Wise up-they're usually from war torn countries like Sudan, Somalia or extremist places where it's impossible to even piss without someone telling you the holy way to do it. If you want to send them back where they'll face inhumanity and death, torture, etc, then what kind of human does that make you?

I think that the people of this tolerant country have finally woken up to the real danger in our midst we have been asleep and judging from some of the letters on this sight we are finally waking up to just how intolerant the Muslim religion is

Britain has been through a lot trying to appease their Islamic immigrants. It makes one wonder how long they and other countries such as France will continue to be so tolerant. You can be sure there is not an Islamic country on this planet that would endure the demands and insults that Britain and France have.

Britain is a christian country (well it used to be). I think there might be an anti-Muslim feeling sweeping across Britain, simply because the (British) Muslims are trying to dictate there religion onto us and force us to accept them in society.

Of course, this is to be expected when the muslims constantly express anti western, christian, hindu, jewish feelings. They are seen as barbaric and full of hatred what else can we expect.
