When I was in an alcohol rehab, a feller told us all a story of being tazered by the police. He said it was the most painful experience of his life. He said he lost all control of his bowels. He also said he has a hole in his foot, I guess when the electrocution was passing through his body it tore out through his foot. He also said he had to have the hooks surgically removed in a hospital, before being taken to jail.
Now I haven't been tazered, but this fellers story was fairly convincing to me. I am going to assume it is a dreadful thing to have happen. People have died from it.
Edit: To the cop who said the story I heard was bull, think about the fact that these police probably shocked him over and over again. You just got tazered for a split second. Your fellow cops aren't going to tazer you for 30 seconds without stopping. They WILL tazer a drunk suspect that they are vengeful against in an excessive manner. Think about it.

Although I've never stuck my finger in an electric socket, I have been shocked by household current. Very painful! I have also been "Tazed" (training purposes). There's no comparison. The Tazer is a totally different brand of electricity! I could feel it arcing throughout my whole body and bouncing off the fillings in my teeth :-) Time froze. What seemed like forever turned out to be only seconds when I watched the video with a stopwatch in hand. I don't want to do either again but if I had to choose between the two, I'd pick the Tazer because it's harmless. The training was fun. We had a lot of laughs. We had a written exam after-wards and everyone's nerves were so shot, we really got a laugh at watching each other trying to hold the pen still on the paper :-)
The Tazer is a Godsend for law enforcement and criminals alike. They've saved a lot of lives by providing a NON lethal (NOT LESS BUT TOTALLY NON-lethal) level of force to effect an arrest. In the old days, when you fought to exhaustion, you pulled out your gun and shot them.
Tazers don't kill people, preexisting conditions -- out of the officers control and usually unbeknownst to them too -- kill them.
Some people are Tazer resistant, so I still carry my OC (Oleo Capsicum Resin, AKA Pepper Spray). I carry my baton too, but that's not for hitting people with. I've found it's invaluable for reaching over the fence and up-righting the dog's water dish.
Oh, and NEVER have I heard of anyone losing control of their bladder or bowels; or having ANY significant injuries at either our agency, the surrounding agencies or through the regional academy with which I frequently correspond! The only injuries we experienced were the minor holes and burns from the probes. They had completely healed within 2-3 weeks.

I have been accidently tazered in Newark, NJ. I was trying to hold down a suspect til the cops arrived and the trigger happy cop did not wait for me to let go. The tazer hit my hand and boy what a feeling. I looked like a spaz rolling on the floor in pain. It definitely feels like your finger is in a light socket but for a longer time, cause you can't just pull your finger out like you can with an outlet. I don.t advise anyone to try it.

Yeah, they're tazered for like 3 seconds interior the time of their preparation to be qualified to word a tazer, yet those whacks are tazering people for as much as ninety seconds (learn that interior the process Florida) and KILLING people. initially tazers have been for use at the same time because it became into no longer possibility-loose for non fatal stress, and now they use them against us for all time. regulation enFORCEment has all new meanings presently.

Ghost- The man was feeding you a whole bunch of crap! Ive never seen or heard of anyone crapping their pants or having a hole in them
I've been tazed 3 times. 2times in training and once on the street accidentally when I tried to cuff a guy, and my hand went between the 2 barbs, which is where the current is flowing.
Anyway, it is kind of like putting your hand in a light socket, but it hurts a whole lot more. The pain only lasts as long as the officer's finger is on the trigger, and there are no after effects, unlike pepper spray that has lingering effects for up to 2 hours

No. I bit an electric cord when I was about 7. That was bad.
I've been tasered, and I'd say the 110V electric cord was much worse.
The 110 had more of a massive pulse that burned and turned everything black and white for a second then I passed out. The taser is just an intense pain for a few seconds.
Go ahead...I'm a cop and that was due to the shock as a kid. We're dumb, blah blah blah.

It really only hurts when you stay on the trigger too long. A short burst gets your attention, a longer one gets you begging for mercy. I had to shock my partner and he was a large hulking muscle guy. He was such a wimp, tensing up, whining about not wanting to get tazed etc. I turned him into a lump of jelly real quick. We call the tazer, the equalizer.

Okay, imagine all of the bones in your bady, ALL OF THEM, moving about one inch away from your body and then slamming back in with the force of gravity. That is what happens when you are tazered and its kind of like getting electricuted but slightly differnet.

It's like in those alien movies, where the alien gets under your skin. Only that you can't get it out and you get the sensation in a wide area of your skin. And of course, when it stops, you get a numbness luike you've never felt before.
Barry M's answer made me laugh :)
