i find it humorous that you guys immediately take the cops word as indisputable fact. so because you have a badge that means you can't commit a criminal act, right? and you would never ever lie to cover your own @ss either would you? doesn't "excessive force" mean anything to you? did piggy really NEED to tazer a preggo?

yet another example of cops thinking that they can act above the law and be treated differently than anyone else that might abuse or break it. and of course they are right; cops get away with it all the time, whereas average joe would get the book thrown at them.
and cops wonder why people have a disdainful view of them, lol

He must be investigated. If he can prove that the small woman wasn't contained when he was sitting on her back and/or that she had a weapon and was threatening him, then he was justified. Otherwise it really does look like he used excessive force.
But let's assume that she didn't want to speak to him and was trying to leave:
1) Aren't police stations, fire departments and hospitals supposed to take custody of small children from a parent no questions asked? Would the police prefer that someone hurt a child than to voluntarily surrender custody?
2) Was she so powerful that a grown policeman sitting on her was really in fear for himself or needed additional help in contaning her?
I think those tazers are used a little too liberally. They really should be used only when a police officer feels outweighed in a struggle and doesn't want to use deadly force. That's should be the only use for a weapon like that.

wow, cant believe some answers on here defending the police. Whether or not she is pregnant, he tasers her while she is face-down on the ground and he's on top of her. He's a strong police officer trained in this, shes a woman FACE DOWN ON THE GROUND...the taser is supposed to be used if the person is endangering themselves or others and as a last resort before using lethal forms of control such as a gun..could some people defending the cop pls tell me who she is endangering while on the ground??
Another thing, she is in a police station with several policemen...and she is one woman. They couldnt take her down without using a taser??
am glad i dont live in the US

The cop should LOSE HIS JOB, be fined $100,000, and then be handcuffed (behind his back) while the lady TAZERS HIS TESTICLES.
I am SO frikking sick and tired of reading these tazer abuse stories.
The damn police who flip these things out are SADISTS and COWARDS.

First of all, the woman was wearing a large coat. Secondly, she was obviously disorderly to the point where the officer felt that she needed to be restrained!
The officer was doing his job. The woman should be charged with disorderly conduct, failure to obey the lawful order of a police officer, and most likely child endangerment! She put herself in the situation and the office was forced to react!
There should be no punishment for the officer, who was doing his job and used non lethal force. He had no knowledge of the woman's pregnancy, all he knew was she was trying to give away her one year old child, and the child was possibly in danger!

Before you punished someone for that, you would have to establish that you knew she was pregnant.
This woman was emotionally unstable, and not acting rationally. She was a suicide risk. This would also put her child, and the unborn child, in serious risk.
Being pregnant does not give you the right to fight with a police officer doing his job.

I would need to know the whole story before forming an opinion and we all know that Faux news never gives the whole (and rarely the true) story.

There should be no punishment. She should have complied with the police.
I know that I'm going a lot of thumbs down for this but honestly, I really don't care. HATERS

to answer your question, the punishment should be: THE PREGNANT WOMAN GETS LOCKED UP UNTIL SHE GIVES BIRTH, LOSES ALL RIGHTS TO THE CHILD FOR ENDANGERING ITS LIFE, AND THEN HAS TO SPEND THE TIME IN JAIL FOR HER CRIMES.
I don't wonder why the public doesn't like me, I don't care if the public likes me. I'm not hired to be their nanny, I'm hired to enforce the laws and protect the innocent. If you don't like it, I don't care.

NEWS FLASH: If you are pregnant, cooperate with authorities.
Since it seems that people don't seem to be accountable for their actions; i.e. a pregnant woman fighting police. Why should police be held accountable.

if it was determined to be unnecessary..or excessive force....I think wreckless endangerment would safice...
but of course there could be circumstances where it is necessary.... for instance the woman has a knife and is threatening to slit her own throat.
