You spelled it differently the last time.

I found him on

(use "Advanced")

JOSEPH L GAERTNER
B. 03 Nov 1912
D. 11 Aug 1998
LR 45840 (Findlay, Hancock, OH)

His obit would tell you some of his relatives.
http://www.tedpack.org/obit.html will tell you more about obits than I want to paste here.

In 1920 he's living with some people named Fohl in Delaware, Hancock, Ohio.

William A Fohl, abt 1860, Ohio, White, Head
Alberta Fohl, abt 1867, Ohio, White, Wife
Joseph L Gartner, abt 1913, Ohio, White, Son

Jospeh's father is b. Germany, mother Ohio. Both Fohls are b. Ohio. Williams parents are b. PA & OH, Alberta's OH & OH.

It looks to me like he's an adopted son or nephew. William is a doctor.

In 1930 he is still with them, but he is a boarder and they have moved.

Ancestry crashed just now. Someone else may look for Ga(e)rtners in Lucas County in 1910 for you later.

My site (above) has apage on writing a good query. You might look at it, too, when you read the one on obits.

Best of luck!

Hi,
If you want to talk to a living descendant, you may want to try:
John and Dawn Gaertner
Deboray Gaertner
Howard E. and Norma J. Gaertner
John Gaertner

All of these Gaertners live in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio, and can be found searching for the last name at whitepages.com.

I have found it is best to call people you don't know on a Saturday afternoon. I called once to locate the family which belonged to some pictures I had found and had to research in order to get the pictures back to the family, and found the correct family on the first call based on the highschool one person in a photo had attended. The family still lived in the same town 60 years later!

Best of Luck!

Lynda... every question posted is independent of prior questions. I checked back to find that you posted earlier with his name... YOU MUST include the specifics in each post. Some of the regulars will read every question, but many will simply pick a question at random, and work with that.
There is no continuity between questions, as there may be in a 'thread' on other boards.
