Nuns are really monks. They live a monastic life. You might look up "contemplative" orders. For instance there are benedictine monks and nuns and both generally live in a monastery. And so too for Franciscan contemplative orders. Monks are those who live a monastic lifestyle. The distinction between monks and nuns is not much different as Mr. is to Mrs.
P.S. I had once been a postulant as a monk. I have some knowledge of monastic spirituality and am open to emails in case anyone would like information that way.

Well a number of Catholic women in the USA wanted to be Catholic monks aka priests. Some were even officially ordained as Catholic priests but the non-profit European Pope excommunicated them (gender discrimination) because the European Pope disrespects human rights. Women like Hillary Clinton are not priestly, presidential material due to one factor only (wrong gender according to the non-profit European Pope).

The Bible says that women are not to be in a position of power or authority over man because God didn't make women to be leaders. That was the men who are made to be leaders. So no if you follow the Bible to the letter then no you are not allowed to have a position of authority in the church if you are a woman.
