I work and i don't complain about people on welfare and them taking the tax dollars.Welfare gives her 300 a month. As far as i am concerned they should give extra money at christmas.they barely give her enough to survive for half of the month let alone the whole month

It is hard being a single mom at Christmas whether you are on welfare or have a job. There are many organizations out there to help. Including the salvation Army . just go to one and ask to sign up for help. Local churches will help. Most churches has their parishioners adopt needy families and most of the time it is confidential. Also if the children are school age and quite possible even if not go to your local high school and elementary schools and ask the guidance counselors how they can help you. Their are many options available for lower income families at Christmas and all year. Actually as a matter of fact if she is on welfare her case worker should be helping her find organizations and programs to help her. she needs to speak up though they can not assume she needs it she has to ask and do the leg work. God bless and good luck

She should ask about daycare assistance through the state. She can ask her case worker. This could help her work, even if its part time, or even go to school. She can go to community service league, and sign up for christmas. They do a lot of benefits. Not $ but actual presents for the kids, they also have lists of churches that help out with this. I'm not judging your friend. Nobody on here knows her situation, and they aren't in her shoes. What matters is that her kids have Christmas. Also Figure out how to contact, toys for tots. Happy holidays, I really wish the best , and a good christmas for her kids. Welfare is designed to help those who qualify and are in need of living, assistance. Food, shelter, clothes, nothing extra. Always remember, chrismas isn't about the gifts, but about love and being together.

i was a single mother on benefits for 4 yrs. I saved a little throughout the year to put away for Christmas, bought thing in sales etc. It was are i had a night out as the benefit money was mainly for my child not myself.......When i got my money i paid bills, got shopping in, bought any shoes/clothes my son needed then what was left some was kept to get Christmas/birthday gifts in..,
Here in the UK if you are on benefits you can get an intrest free loan from the benefits agency, many get that to pay for Christmas.........I'm married now with 4 kids and we are on a low income we struggle for Christmas but i just start early. Bigger gifts are bought when hubs monthy pay goes into the bank or i put away bits of money......
I don't see why those on benefits should be given extra for Christmas and would say the same even if i were on benefits still.

I can see both sides of this...
Kids should have alittle something at Christmas, and thats why there are things like toys for tots etc...
At the same time, and forgive me I don't know your friends situation, but its frustrating when I work 40+ hours a week, every week, and my tax money is going to help situations that alot of time could be controled better if they cared more. I can understand alittle bit of help but it should be as a Hand up not a hand out.

There are many organizations, churches that help needy families at Christmas. Welfare is designed to make sure that children have all their necessities. A roof over their head, food in their bellies, and clothes on their back. Presents are considered a luxury. I agree that no child should go without at Christmas, that is why I usually adopt a needy child at Christmas and I try to at least give them a few presents to open Christmas day.

There are other organizations available to help her out with Christmas, such as Toys for Tots, Giving Trees organized by local businesses, and the Salvation Army. Christmas should not be a materialistic time. I was very poor growing up because my parents were refugees who came to this country with absolutely nothing. We learned that spending time with one another was enough of a gift and to not care what was in the stores. It's hard, but I'm glad I'm the wiser from it. After going to a college full or rich people, I am so glad that my life is centered on my family and my goals in life instead of on what brand of clothing I have in my closet or how much "Daddy" makes.
She should get in touch with a local church to see if there are any free programs being offered to help her out. Best of luck to her and her children.
**Also, Welfare is meant to help her with necessities, and unfortunately, Christmas presents isn't one of them. Food and shelter comes first.

I thought most states would gladly pay daycare and have the parents work. At least in Wisconsin they do. They will pay for childcare for you to job hunt also.

"effective. as quickly as company exec pigs might desire to pee in a cup to get $billlions$ and as quickly as you will possibly desire to pee to get a unfastened training, highways, clean and secure foodstuff and water, highway lights, public parks, libraries, and all the rest which you get for unfastened." lol i think of the question is approximately human beings on welfare that are no longer paying taxes. training, highways, highway lights, etc are no longer unfastened! those issues are funded from human beings working and paying taxes. WELFARE IS unfastened! 7 seconds in the past
