Or would he have a different profession?

Tele-sales maybe? He could bang out a few miracles there I bet? How about a doctor? He could go private and make a fortune with those healing hands (naturally all profits would be donated to Leigh Cats & Dogs Home).

What profession do you think Jesus would have if he were alive today and why?

Yeah! The "poor" carpenter. What a joke.

2000 years ago, carpentry was equivalent to the most cutting edge and popular 'can't do without' technologies. To be a carpenter, back then, was to be involved in one of the most lucrative businesses on the planet.

Today, it's the mobile phone. Jesus would be managing the Nazareth branch of Carphone Warehouse and before that it was a Blockbusters video shop..

I must start this answer with this thought; Jesus IS alive today and living among you. What is his occupation? He is a carpenter who patches your roof for free after it was ripped away during that awful storm. He is the Fisherman who hauled in today's catch and brought it to a center to feed the less fortunate. He is the Teacher who made the connection and helped you to get to where you are today.
That being said, i think he would be a homeless man, healing people who believed in him.and his salary?not necessary.

Jesus is alive today. He is in heaven with his Father.

We are told that he is our great high priest and mediates between God, his Father and
believers.
He is to return to set up his kingdom as the scriptures tell us.

considering that he ended up being nailed to two pieces of wood I'd imagine he'd keep well away from carpentry

Jesus has had many jobs, but I would say he would be preaching. He is God's son, meaning God told Jesus, "Go forth preaching, setting things straight."
