Tomato sauce is just that tomatoes cooked with a little water. Spaghetti sauce has spices, salt and a little sugar in it.

Yes, you can use the spaghetti sauce for your meatloaf, but you might want to cut down on some of the salt. If you have any sauce left over, you can freeze it in the jar. Now instead of regular meatloaf, you have Italian meatloaf!! Now to make it even better, do this: divide the meat mixture into half and pat one half into the pan. Next top it with mozzarella cheese and put the remaining meat over top of the cheese. Top with a little of the spaghetti sauce and bake as usual. Serve it with a green salad and garlic bread. It will be a great hit!!

You can vary the taste by using taco seasoning in the meat and use the tomato sauce. Then layer it with chilies and Mexican cheese. Serve this with a guacamole sauce or a salad with avocado and fried tortillas.

Not at all the same thing.

A tomato sauce is a neutral basis to which you can add spices, meat or anything else so as to make the spaghetti sauce of your choice.

A spaghetti sauce is a ready to use sauce for spaghetti in which you don't have anything to add, theoretically.

Spaghetti sauce has extra seasonings in it. I think it would taste good though, Italian meatloaf. It will add the same moisture that is required by the tomato sauce. If there are additional seasonings in your recipe, you might want to cut back a bit.

Marinara is normally made with crushed plum tomatoes, garlic, basil and a bit of oregano and dried chili pepper flakes. Sometimes some saute'd onion. That's it. Traditional American Spaghetti sauce has a bunch of other ingredients in it. So, yeah, there is a difference if the truth be known. But if you like the sauce from your cupboard with the crazy bread, go for it.

What most people in America call "spaghetti sauce" is actually marinara sauce.....yes. Now, of course, marinara sauce made from scratch or in an Italian restaurant will be yummier than the bottled "spaghetti sauce", but in the American vernacular....they are the same thing. Go ahead and use your favorite bottled sauce (if that's what you like).

If you are using canned or bottled spaghetti sauce, it is basically tomato sauce. It may have mushrooms, etc and more spices but it will work.

Spagetti sauce can be made using tomato sauce. Tomato sauce doenst have any spices or other addtions to it so it may be a little bland. I would use a good marinara spagetti sauce for your meatloaf.
