What would happen if you had your baby 8 weeks early? I am asking because I am 32 weeks, and have had this feeling for about a week now that Im going to go into labor early. Any thought?

I had a doc appointment Tuesday and mentioned how Im feeling to him. I also told him Im not sure what to watch for because my braxton hicks keep getting stronger and stronger. He said its normal, next appointment we will talk about what to look for and he wont check me until Im 36 weeks.

Everyone is right, the baby may have problems but it will most likely survive and be ok after a few weeks with no life long illnesses.
With that said, maybe the feeling is your body telling you to get ready for the baby or your nerves wanting to get all of the last minute details done. In your 3rd trimester is when women start nesting and getting everything ready and doing some hard core cleaning and shopping. Maybe it is hormones saying that the baby could come any day so be ready. I would tell your doctor about it so he/she is aware and maybe they can settle your worries.
My advice, every extra day your baby is in you is a lesser chance for problems. So take it easy and don't stress yourself, b/c stressing will for sure cause problems.
Good luck!!!

He/she would probably have to be in NICU for a few weeks.. lungs aren't fully developedd then, and he/she would have to have assisted breathing and given a medication to help develope his lungs fully. I am sure, if every thing goes well, he/she will survive.. My cousin was about 6-7 weeks early and he was OK, still is at 28 yrs old now..
I hope ya don't have your baby early though, hang in there! And if you have the slightest feeling of going into labor too early, get to the hospital ASAP!! So they can work on trying to stop it for you.
Good luck and take care :)

I too am about 32 weeks and fear going too early, however the great news is that now a days you can have your baby during your 7 months and they will survive. At this stage your baby is big enough to survive, they will just have to stay in the hospital longer and be in the nic unit. I had a friend that delivered her son at 7 months, he was very tiny and had to stay in the hospital for 6 weeks, however now he is thriving and gaining weight. The question is why do you think you will go early, are you experiencing any cramping?

I had my baby 7 weeks early. She went straight into the NICU and stayed there for 3 weeks. She was on C-PAP for 24 hours and then a nose cannula for the rest of her time there. She wighed 4lbs and dropped to 3lbs10oz. She was fed through a tube at first and was on iv's, caffiene and sugar water. When we started to feed her with a bottle it was hard. Preemie babies need to learn how to suck and breath at the same time. She was needed to be awaken every 3-4 hours to eat, and could only be held out of her isolette for about an hour a day, because she couldn't maintain her temp well. But she is 2 now and besides her being tiny, you could never tell she was a preemie. She isn't behind on anything and is perfect in my eyes.

my oldest son was born 6 weeks early and shocking enough he was 7Lbs 10oz's had he been born full term he would have been a 10 pounder for sure.
he had no difficulties breathing on his own or gaining weight and he didn't even need to be in the NICU. A baby born at 8 weeks may need some care and possibly be in the NICU for observation. It all depends on how the baby is when he/she is born.
Good Luck!

my baby was 14 weeks early. she was very sick, weighed 1 lbs 13 oz. is now a healthy 12 lb baby! don't put to much worry into it!
by the way, a baby can be born as early as 22 weeks and still have a chance of surviving.

i would say you have nothing to worry about, yes the baby might have breathing problems but they always come around it.
i wont use the word sick but remember the baby is not full term, meaning full developed so they will be some challanges.
doctors nowdays do great job so nothing to worry about and ask the hopsital if they can stop your labour sometimes they do delay it.
good luck

i think if you did,its a bit early as your baby needs these vital weeks to develop [roperly, the hospital would give you something to stop the labour if you did
