I like to practice my beliefs, like Magick and stuff, and it kinda sucks to be with someone who can't join in on the fun, so if their beliefs were so different that it affected the way I want to live my life, I'm afraid I'd have to call it off. Best to know these things up front, but sometimes poeple will profess to believe in the same things as you without ever really trying to find out what it is you believe in. That can be misleading and disappointing, so really time is the only way to tell. Don't get too involved too quickly. Love is fickle, but a strong friendship can last forever.

I stopped dating a girl in College because she was from a different church background. There are many things that can create havoc in a marriage. I did not want to go in with any obvious problems up front. Plenty have found my wife and I since, but hey, we are both human.

I think every couple should really agree on a lot of things before marriage. Especially on how to raise kids, and what faith (or not) they are going to have.

Homes where the faith is divided are tough places to live, or at least that is what I hear all the time from the believers I know.

It has happened the other way around . When women found out ( even applies to people just as friends ) I was Atheist .
I have always been willing to evaluate the persons other qualities and discuss the religious differences .
But I found many religious people get very frustrated when I try to discuss our beliefs . They usually wind up just saying something like "Well you are stupid if you don't believe in God !" and then they walk away .

No, never.
I have had friends that quit on me because I wasn't a JW though. They were, and I wasn't, that was reason enough for them. My former friends that were Mormon, they were fine with me as long as they thought they might get me to join them. When they saw I wasn't interested, I was dropped like a hot rock...and they were angry at me without cause.
I never ended a relationship of any kind because of a difference in religion.
Atheists avoid me, they don't get together with me like before I became Christian. Different interests and motivations now.

I cannot imagine being stupid enough to get into a relationship with someone, and not having at least some clue as too whether or not they are religious fanatics.

I don't think I would get involved with someone who didn't have the same basic beliefs as I do in the first place.

No, because I wouldn't go so far as to be in a full-blown "relationship" with anyone when I didn't know their religious beliefs.

If you are speaking of a romantic relationship...
No, I never started it to begin with. How would I expect to feel a connection with someone who doesn't hold the same beliefs that are most important in my life? The bible calls it unequally yoked.
As far as friends, most of my friends do not hold my safe beliefs.

When I left Christianity, I lost alot of friends. Some were friends I had to walk away from.
I had one Christian friend who kept talking down to me, making nasty comments about me going to hell and what not. That was annoying enough, but watching her continue to drink, screw around and smoke weed while she admonished me was too much. One day she was sitting on my back deck nude, talking about how "The Lord" had given her the power to exorcise demons in his name. It was at that point I realized that I found her irritating and did not want to ever speak to her again. We moved and "forgot" to give her our new address.
