Police, please don't tell me the cops didn't know she was pregnant. Police supporters, please don't tell me she was a "threat" either. Grown police MEN shouldn't be tazering women. Are they not man enough to restrain a woman without resorting to electrocuting them?

From what I have heard this woman didn't have a gun.
Giving her child up for adoption is not a crime, and it is for the good of the child if she cannot care for them.
Also, they had taken the child away from her before they tazered her. She was unarmed, had no child in her arm, and had commited no crime. Also, she was pregnant, and trying to cover her stomach while two grown men attacked her.

This is why I advocate calling the FBI about illegal operations etc.; local cops are dumb and yes they did taze that woman and everyone of them ought to be sent to prison. The BS about "To Serve and Protect" is nothing more than cops serving themselves and protecting theor own butts. They do not care about anyone but themselves.

One can see numerous cases of tasered pregnant subjects throughout the media forums.
Certainly a huge concern is whether or not the unborn child is harmed. Another concern would be why the mother would take any action to warrant being tased in the first place.
Granted one could fight the woman without resorting to tasing, however, you have to consider which would cause more harm.
Statistically, being tased has reduced injuries to suspect and officer reducing taxpayers money in medical treatment for both suspect and officer.
It's extremely easy to pass judgement on a situation after reading about it in a newspaper which often times is biased enough to gain readership which means money in the big business pocket.
It says little about making a statement concerning a situation of which one has no awareness over. Only those present on the scene know the circumstances and the dangers they felt were imminent.
The problem with the taser-scandal delirium that's infected the pop culture is that it's heavy on sensationalism, short on context. How much this barrage of barely examined bits is affecting the national mood on tasers remains to be seen.
A suspect's death following the use of a taser does not necessarily implicate the device itself.
The Taser is deployed in an effort to minimize the risk associated with making a physical arrest of a subject who threatens to resist arrest, is actively resisting arrest, or who poses a threat of harm to himself or others (including officers).
I suggest a bit of reading with several sources to include the one below to have a fuller understanding of this device.

Will there come a time when people are held accountable for their won actions?
I'm sorry Ghost, you said don't say it, but it has to be said, she was obviously depressed, making her a threat to herself, the one year old, and to the unborn baby.
Mom admittedly wants to give up this child. If the officer would have let her leave, the child would have been in serious danger. She was very likely a suicide threat, and could have easily taken the child's life too.
Police are not trained, nor is is advisable, to fight hands on with anyone. That is how people get hurt. The officer was trying to assess the situation, and this lady, who was obviously mentally unstable was fighting with him.
He had two options, let her leave, and risk the safety of herself, the 1 year old, and the unborn.... or detain her, for her safety, and the safety of the others. He chose to detain her. Good choice.
Mentally unstable people have a high tolerance for pain, and a will to fight for thier lives. That makes them very difficult to control, regardless of size, sex, or medical conditions. Ask anyone who has had to fight with someone who is not of sound mind, they will tell you there is nothing easy about it.
The bottom line in this situation, and pretty much every taser video I've seen.... it is all about choices. People's choices. People chose not to listen to lawful orders, and they suffer the consequences. Not one video shows someone getting tased without first refusing to do something they are told. Every video I've seen, the person would have avoided the taser if they complied.

They did not know she was pregnant. She is only a few months along. She wanted to give up custody of her 1 year old son. When the officer questioned her about her son she became irrate, agitated and beligerent. She then tried to leave with the child (after telling the officer she didn't want him). The officer was able to get the child away and handed him to another officer. The woman then became aggressive so he forced her to the ground and tased her. She got what she deserved.

Although this is not a direct answer to your question, I think without a doubt that tasers are used way too often. .
I am giving you a link to a story about the use of the taser being questioned. To date 85 people have been killed with a taser.
http://www.detnews.com/2005/metro/0502/1...
Here is another article:
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/localnews/c...
Amnesty international has documented over 245 deaths that occurred after the use of tasers. (Source http://www.hometownglenburnie.com/vault/...
Here is a link to a pdf file from the manufacturer of the taser with product warnings for law enforcement.
http://www.taser.com/SiteCollectionDocum...
An article about taser use on children:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/11/14/childre...
Probably the most damning report on taser use, by amnesty international. . also a .pdf file
http://web.amnesty.org/library/pdf/AMR51...
For a good overview, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroshoc...
Now, personal opinion. I think that the taser is overused by police and in circumstances where it should not be used. Consider the case of Andrew Meyer who was tasered while allegedly resisting arrest in an incident during a John Kerry speech during UF's Constitution Day Forum. This guy was making a pain in the butt of himself but he was not resisting arrest. At the time he was tasered, he was being restrained on the ground by 4 or 5 police officers. Too often it seems to be used to make people comply and is used in "Contempt of cop" issues rather than when someone is deliberately fighting with police.
It is a very painful thing to have used on you, and the fact that it has resulted in some 150 deaths says that it should not used lightly.
Hope this helps

google search "pregnant woman tasered by police in OH" to read the whole story and watch the video. i read that she came to the police station to surrender her 1 yr. old son, but became combative and refused to give anymore information. when she tried to exit the station, the police tried to get custody of her 1 yr old, the woman resisted (wasn't she there to give him up in the first place?) and was thrown to the ground on her stomach (in the video she was trying to hold her stomach off the ground in a push up position). the cop got on top of her and tried to handcuff her. she was still resisting so a second officer set the taser off (aiming recklessly it seems) and it shot into her neck. the report says she never told the police even after the arrest that she was pregnant and they could not see her stomach because she was wearing a heavy winter coat and holding the 1yr old on her lap while she talked with police.

Here is a video clips from the show "Cops." You will see how a "woman" can be just as dangerous as a man. She can cut your throat or pull a trigger just as easily as a man can.
People think every cop is Jackie Chan.
Also, watch it and then tell me what you would do?
Is she pregnant? Can't tell, can you? You can't really give her a pee test before disarming her.

Are you mentally abnormal?
Using a control hold or take down is far, far more likely to cause long term injury than a taser.
Don't come on here with your "I'm 16 and know it all" crap and tell grown professionals how to protect the public or themselves.
You need to get a grip on reality. Life experience will aid you.

Personally I believe that the woman's #1 priority should be to her unborn child and if she get's tazed it is her responsibility. If the police say "get out of the car" you do it and fight in court later. Anyone who gets tazered is not obeying the Officer's directions. They have protocols on when and if they can use force. Officers don't know what she may have on her (Gun, Knife) and the safest way to restrain someone is by Tazer. If she got violent and the officer needed to take her to the ground I would be just as worried about the baby.
Anyone who cries "foul" on getting tazered has no case in my book unless you can prove gross negligence on the Cops part.

Not a problem. The police were on a complaint ,she didnt follow their orders, and she got what she deserved, pregnant or not. Just because she is pregnant does not mean that she cant cause harm to herself or others.
