Go with beige.
If you have mostly cool colors [ blues, greens, purples, grays ], then get sand color, with a slight pink cast [ rosy beige ].
If you use mostly warm colors [ reds, yellows, oranges, browns ], then get a champagne beige [ yellow beige ].

Take a picture of your room (if you have one) and go talk with a carpet store clerk. They know what goes with what. If you don't have a picture, talk with them anyway and let them know the colors in the room.

A long time ago, Penney's or Sear's use to have a decorator who would actually come to your home and help you pick out the correct carpet.....no charge for the decorator. You might want to check into this too.

If you don't know what colors you'll be using yet, go with beige: That's safely neutral and won't show most dirt easily.
