1. NAFTA - NO. this will make it WORSE.
2. Better entry and EXIT program - yes.
3. Revamp some of the laws so there aren't any gray area's open to interpretation - absolutely.
4. All states need to be on the same page with regards to how and what illegals can or can not receive - and this needs to be enforced by the federal government.
I woudl like to add:
5. a constitutional ammendment saying that ILLEGAL ALIENS CAN NOT receive any governmentally funded services, except jail time and deportation - public schools, welfare, SS, ITIN, etc.
EDIT: Denise, having a family is no excuse for breaking the law.

I differ on 4. I don't mind it being a patchwork, and don't want the feds who don't pay the cost to be the one to address that.
I think all benefits for illegal immigrants should be stopped, period, prospectively. Except for emergency health care to the point of stabilization prior to deportation.
The benefits, particularly education, are not an afterthought about the move here for most of them. Add that to birthright citizenship and WIC for children born here, and the belief that having a child here betters the parent's immigration position, and you will ALWAYS have the sort of mess we have now.
Also, you are missing the cartels and gangs and enforcement.
You should take a trip to LA and go to east LA, Maywood etc. Maywood actually earned my grudging respect going to the California Atty general regarding police corruption there, despite having more illegal than legal residents in the town, per reports. Their sister city using the same police force and 'towing company' ISN'T going to the atty general and says the problems are only Maywood's problems. THAT frightens me.
You have to look into the corruption that is coming across the border to see why we need a real border security plan.

Unless there is a centralized database established to track entrances and exists from the country, accessible from every single entry point, we will never stop illegal immigration. There is currently no way to tell if someone who entered legally as a student or tourist, etc, left when they should have.

nicely heres my rationalization for a reform, first we dont have adequate human beings to fill the jobs, individuals assume too a lot for too little and better paying jobs are going for novelty products as a replace of difficulty-unfastened desires like computing device programers make a greater physically powerful income than a farmer whilst it comes all the way down to it we cant consume computing device chips. There are individuals who do jobs like maids and a few who %. fruit, yet no longer adequate and not esp no longer for the pay. additionally, numbers dont lie, IRS made the ITIN variety for illegals to document income taxes like a classic citizen and that they dont benefit from the perks of recieving EIC credit or the bush or obama stim kit. So each and all of the social secure practices they get taken from their W2s fills the hollow for our eldery who happen to be residing longer. additionally Visas are given to professions that we dont want like rocket scientist or artist, as quickly as we've an abundance of knowledgeable individuals already, we want uncooked skill for selecting and stitching. I advise this, a 7 365 days trial era, the place businesses fill out a form of how many workers they want, the U. S. can open interior of sight organization branches to help businesses fill those positions and in the event that they cant be filled, enable migrant workers to take those positions, with proper historic past tests from their international places, and no government counsel. in the event that they cant self sustain for 7 years they might shop on with for citizenship. they could have government examine united statesof direction, being pregnant could wreck the settlement till now the 7 years are up. Its lengthy adequate to earn the suited to be a citizen and could help conceal vacant jobs.

The answer to illegal immigration is a simple one. We have to do something to make illegals not want to come to the US. Period.
Mostly they do so because of economic reasons as a prime example Mexico (where most of the illegals come from) is a poor country where most struggle from day to day.
I mean if you lived in Texas for example and lived in a old house with a dirt floor and worked for 10 cents an hour and all you had to do to escape is cross the border into Mexico where a hard but good paying job was waiting, housing, much better medical care, electriciy, clean water, X-Box and McDonalds where right there...what would you do?
We should be using our political power and influence to help/force the Mexican government to step up in taking care of it's own needy. Right now Mexico's government doesn't want to stop the illegal immigration because the people who are leaving are finding work in the US and sending money back into Mexico to help stimulate it's economy. At the same time most of the ones leaving are the poor who would require help from the Mexican government if they stayed so it's win/win for them.
We need to make it loose/ loose.
Sure, we need to build better fences and have better patrols but until we fix the cause of the problem nothing we do is ever going to work.
I would suggest we Bill Mexico for every illegal imigrent that is here. (For supporting their citizens.) Then waive the fees for every program the Mexican government puts into place to help it's needy and deter illegal immigration. Then encourage private US firms with tax breaks to fund programs that will bring Mexicans into the US legally on visas to work in the jobs that they are finding now (construction, etc.). This takes away the jobs from illegals and gives them to legals, then it encourages illegals to stay because it will cost the Mexican Government more for them to come to the US then it will for them to stay.

Yes. Getting rid of tens of millions of illegal aliens in our country.
Not "revamping" of the laws. AGGRESSIVE enforcement of the current laws.
Prosecute employers hiring illegal aliens to the fullest extent of the law.
Denying drivers licenses, bank accounts, credit cards, etc. to illegal aliens.
Deny any governmental assistance for any reason to illegal aliens.
Deny housing to illegal aliens.
We don't have to put "states on the same page".
Illegal aliens shouldn't be "receiving" ANYTHING except a one way ticket home.

I agree. Plus I think if the U.S. sends all it buisnesses to Mexico and Cafta contries, instead of China, it will create millions of jobs in those countries, and people will want to stay there and not try to come here to work as slaves.
Plus that wall in the border needs to be imprenetable, not just a fence.

Illegal immigration will not be stopped unless and until EMPLOYERS are held accountable for hiring them. That is the motivation they have for coming here. Employers know when they are hiring an illegal. They do it to save money. As long as employers can continue to hire them without repercussion, the stream will continue.

By cutting all the free healthcare, money, education, the illegals won't have that incentive to sneak across the border.
At the same time, we could also start to enfore the laws that are aleady on the books.

To truly end illegal immigration you need to eliminate the reason they come here....JOBS. If the government was to crack down on employers of illegals, huge fines 50K per employee 1st offense, 100K per 2nd offense, shutter the business 3rd offense. If that happens, illegals won't be hired, and those here will self deport themselves.
