I claim innocence. ...and how does someone else dying do any favors for anyone.?
What a ridiculous and barbaric belief, eh? LOL
Here's the real deal: First of all the Bible is just a book and the characters and stories in it are only creative ideas out of the minds of men. Furthermore, if the Bible had been written by a Roman author, it would have told another story -- one about a rebellious little Jewish man who was drawing attention to himself and causing some unwanted unrest. It would have gone on to show that a decision was made to eliminate him and restore peace and obedience among the Jews that favored the Roman empire. End of Story.
The Roman version of the story of Christs life and death would probably not have been about God or about the divinity of Jesus and it would certainly would not have said anything about Jesus dying to wash away our sins.
I suspect that what a Roman author of the day would have written about Jesus might have been said in less than a hundred words.

Your demented in your mind to think that by not being perfect you're entitled to a place in heaven. This is the original sin 'nonsense' you're talking about, even exhibiting. I think you have an entitlement mentality that you're (probably) liberal mommy and daddy bestowed upon you. Heaven is supposed to be a better resting place for souls who had to put up with the 'Mommy make them stop' mentality. Didn't you have at least one rule you had to obey when you where/are a child?

Like many people, you seem to think that some sins are "horrible" and others are "ok". While the consequence on others for some sins is "horrible" and others are not, the affect on the inidividual doing the sin is the same, regardless of sin.
How many lies does it take to make you a liar? Only one. Some people may be worst liars, but that does not excuse you for yours or me for mine.
As the penalty God placed on ANY sin is death, then a death is required to pay for it.
But as God did not want anyone to have to die, he came down as a human (named Jesus) and did it for us.

Jesus had made an error. Because he lacked first hand experience, he THOUGHT that sins are the most intriguing things we suffer, but rarely we do get pained by the fact that we had sinned. Then, the zealots made it come true: now the sins are the biggest pain we get no matter what.

If you don't think you needed Him to die for your sins, however trivial you may believe them to be, then don't accept His sacrifice or His redemption. If you believe that you can obtain heaven on your own merits, then go for it...I wish you the best of luck with that.

The fact that you obviously feel as though your imperfections should be acceptable to God because on YOUR scale of good and bad, you just aren't so bad as others, is the ultimate reason Jesus's death is necessary for you.
God really is God and it's His club we all want to get into. The rules are pretty straightforward. All we can do is follow them as best we can and let Him be the judge.

One sin separates me from God eternally, and I know I've sinned more than once. Sins don't have a "horrible" scale, all are equally bad. So I'm not a murderer or pedophile, that doesn't make me less guilty of condemnation than them.

It's not simply a matter of our being redeemed for our ACTIONS. It's a matter of being redeemed for what we are. Inherently sinful. As long as we are in that condition, we will also get sick, grow old and die. Our redemption means that that stain will be removed from us and will pave the way for us to have the everlasting life Adam & Eve threw away. It's not about knowledge. It's about disobedience.
Chronology: "Don't eat", they're told. They eat. They lose their perfect state and start to die. They have imperfect children.... that would be us ... therefore WE start to die from the day we're born. Jesus' sacrifice rolls back that chronology and allows the human race to be restored.
OH boy do I feel those thumbs heading south.

God loves you and He did that for you, and you can reject His offer if you do think that you are away too good to be saved. Whatever sins you have, big or small, He died for all of them.
