I have heard lots of comments on here about Fundies.... I don't know if I am one. I don't believe God hates homosexuals (He's not fond of that type of sex but there is a lot of sex, He doesn't approve of). I don't believe in a fiery place of eternal torment called Hell ( I believe Hell is a place of the dead) I do believe the Bible is accurate and inspired by God. Am I a fundie?

What is YOUR definition of a fundie?

Thanks Jeff... according to you I am NOT a fundie. Whew... I was getting worried.

Dusty Scribe - I reconcile them by using a concordance to look up the meaning of hell in its original context. The Strong's Exhaustive Concordance has the original Hebrew and Greek words and their translation for every instance a word is used in the Bible.

I always give thumbs up no matter if I agree with what is being said. I also always go back and check all the answers before picking Best Answer. It is helpful to let me know if you add on to Add the word EDIT in front of the new stuff. Thanks.

Dusty scribe- I also forgot to mention that Hell is the equivalent of the Grave AKA place of the dead. The Grave is an actual physical place. The Bible also says "The Dead know nothing" How do you reconcile that to eternal torment? Also, how do you reconcile Adam being told he would die to the idea of eternal torment? God didn't say I will torture you forever.

Dusty Scribe- Oh I get what you mean now. You are talking about the parable of Lazarus and the Rich man. God was speaking of the Jews and the Gentiles. The Jews were rich because they had been given the knowledge of God, yet they didn't use it. The Gentiles had not been given much knowledge but they used the knowledge they had been given and were blessed.

I tried to write you but you don't allow e-mail. Sorry.

A fundamentalist is a Christian who believes in the fundamentals of the historic Christian faith. That you do not believe in a place of torment called hell, you are not a fundie.

My question is this: You say that you believe the Bible is accurate and inspired by God, yet you deny hell, which Jesus spoke of as a literal place. How you can reconcile these two opposing viewpoints?

I'm sorry, but somebody has got their wires screwed up.

You people whom apply the label, "fundie," say that a fundamentalist is someone whom believes the Bible is the literal Word of God. Well, I believe that.

Yet you also say that a fundamentalist believes in a literal place called Hell where there has been, is now, and will ever be eternal torment. Well, I'm sorry, but the Bible does not teach that -- so somebody is confused and it is not me.

There is currently no such place as Hell and there never will be. The closest thing to that, in the Bible, is the Lake of Fire -- which will only exist at the time of Christ's Third Coming and definitely will not last for all eternity. See the following reference material which proves this from the Bible.

Christianity ought to be a graspable and tangible religion or it's vain to any person. Faith does us no well sitting on a shelf and God are not able to support us if we positioned him in a field to paintings his miracles. If we relatively and real took a seem into the bible we could see that we're commanded to do two matters, Love God and Love Others. We are ALL imperfect, we will be able to ALL reduce to rubble once more, and fortunately all of us have the hazard to get again up and pass at lifestyles once more. We ought to give up watching beyond the log in our possess eye to take away the splinter in anybody else's. Just love every body and be absolutely the first-class man or woman you'll be able to be, God is aware of what we're in a position of!

I think the first answer is an extremely good test.

If you don't believe in a literal Hell you don't qualify as a Fundie. Your comment about sex suggests a sense of humour too. To be a fundie you must be rabidly anti-gay and have no sense of humour. So I'm sorry, you won't be getting your Fundie badge today.

A fundamentalist is one who takes the scriptures absolutely literally and believing it all as it comes. You are not a fundie.

10 ways

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian

EDIT: verjen...that was a funny forward i got...i don't mean to be rude or copyand paste-ish...it just seemed to fit perfectly.
