Ok, So christmas is...Jesus's birthday. Thats what it's all about.
And somehow it turned into something about a fat man in a
red suit who gives presants away.
So...The real reason, It's jesus's birthday.
The fake reason...A fat man. Santa.
I can't figure out 2 things.
1. Why do alot of Christians tell their kids a lie about santa, but
don't really mention the whole jesus part? (The actual reason
that Christmas exists.)
And 2. (Especially #2) Why do non Christians celebrate
christmas? It's not their holiday. ya know, I would really like it if
they stoped.
So...To those non Christian Chistmas celebraters, Why do you
think that you should get our holiday?

1.) Because allowing our children to live a "Truth" that is very kind is important. Also its usually used as blackmail to get the children to behave. "if your not good santa is not going to bring you presents" etc.
2. Actually December 25th was my holiday as a pagan long before it was your holiday as a christian. Christians made it a holiday in an attempt to convert pagans to their beliefs.
3. Jesus was not even born near that day. EVEN ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE!!! he was a summer or spring child because the animals were still in the pastures and they wouldnt have been in the winter. Also the shephards would not have been outside during the winter therefore would not have seen the star.
4. "F*** Off" that is very un-christian of you. Just because someone brings evidence to back up what they are talking about does not mean that you need to be rude, crude, and defensive. I am sorry that you are unlearned and that your only rebuttal to any argument is this. It shows a very sad lack of knowledge. Just more proof that YOU (not all christians just you) are a mindless drone that listens only to the "truths" that someone else tells you.
5. I celebrate Christmas on two levels. I Celebrate alone for the Pagan holiday of it. And I Celebrate by getting together with my family which I love dearly and are a HUGE part of my life. We get presents for the children. Eat dinner. And essentially just have a good time with eachother.
Do the world a favor. Grow up. Look deeper into life. And follow what you feel in your heart instead of what everyone else feels in theirs. Why do you care why others celebrate? you know why you celebrate? thats all that really matters.

Christmas was adopted by the christians so they would have something to celebrate during the Winter Solstice. The actual holiday is Pagan in origin. Decorating a tree and your home is an old Druid and Gaelic tradition. So why do Christians celebrate a Pagan holiday. It is the rebirth of the God.......and I do believe that Horus was born around this time.

1) I don't know, you'll have to talk to those parents. I never could understand it either. I knew even before my parents told me the truth that there was no Santa and I couldn't understand why they were lying to me.
2) Christmas has become about much more than the birth of Jesus, and really look around...it's not even about that anymore. Hasn't been for years. There are non-religious aspects of it...exchanging gifts, being with family, hoping for good will and peace...that non-Christians can enjoy and relate to. If you can't get that, then you are the one who clearly doesn't understand the spirit of your holiday. You are being kinda selfish, and doesn't that go against the Christmas spirit?
I know personally I celebrate Yule but I will also do Christmas with my family out of respect for their beliefs and because I like to be with them at the time. I rarely get to see them. I personally would be pretty heart-broken if they turned around and told me that I could no longer celebrate Christmas with them since I'm not Christian. Does that sound loving and giving and peaceful to you? It doesn't to me.
ETA: "F**k off"? Doesn't sound very Christian to me. Maybe I shouldn't have bothered. But I'll leave my answer up anyway.

lol... so funny
I celebrate Christmas because when my parents were Christian, they celebrated. It's a tradition. Besides, one of the primary purposes of Christmas was to ease the pagans into converting to a religion they were unfamiliar with.
But I have a question for you... (I'm not trying to be bitter about this, trust me, I'm not, but...) why do Christians celebrate Christmas with the traditions of MY religion? Santa was partially based on an aspect of my religion, so was the idea of the birth of a god, mistletoe, evergreens, decorated trees... yeah. The difference is that we don't go "MY holiday. MINE. You can't celebrate it at all"

Perhaps some facts will enlighten you.
Dec 25 was not always christmas. Prior to Jesus Christ, there were pagans who celebrated winter solstice around this time. The christians "borrowed" it in their attempts to convert these pagans.
Employers give time off from work to their employees around this time to take inventory and close the books on the calendar year. Employees use this time off from work to celebrate with friends and family. I would not define this type of celebrating as participating in what christians define as Christmas.
Remember, the world does not revolve around your religion.

Actually, "Christmas" goes back a heck of a lot longer before Christ. It was called many things, but basically it was a celebration of the winter solstice. Early church leaders declared Jesus's birthday to be Dec 25 to hijack the pagan holiday.
Get off your high horse.
"So F*** off."? How very Christian of you.

The Christians grafted the birth of Jesus onto much earlier religious customs associated with the winter solstice (including the birth of different Gods). So actually, you're wrong... if you get right down to it, Christmas is based on Pagan holy days.
A blessed Yule to you and yours.

Well, I celebrate it because my family celebrates it.
But maybe the Pagans would like it if you stopped using their symbols - eggs, bunnies, trees, stars - to celebrate this Jesus character. Why do you think you should get "their" holiday? It was mid-winter solstice long before it was Christmas, y'know.
I'm not impressed with your show of Christian love.

You are correct dear. Christmas is NOT the birth of Christ. December 25th is ACTUALLY a Pagan holiday. The Catholic Church STOLE this day as a way to snuff out Pagan religions.
