Can't they stop imagining for one second what's going on behind closed doors? I just think it's none of my business. Are they afraid they might have a tendency to make the wrong "choice"?

I'm aware of the abomination passage in Leveticus.
But the Bible also says
-A young girl should marry her rapist.
-A piece of wood falling out of a book is sufficient evidence in a criminal case.
-A woman that gets raped in the city is just as guilty as her rapist. (She should have called for help since her honor is more important than her life). I think the underlying assumption is she must have enjoyed it.

Hardly anybody is suggesting these archaic beliefs should be applied today. So what's the obsession with homosexuality. I am not a homosexual and therefore, it doesn't bother me what other people do.
What's the problem here?

If your answer is the Bible says so, then you should be just as concerned with people who eat shrimp.

Religious fundamentalists live in a magical never-never-land where up is down, black is white, good is bad, and everything is the opposite of what it is in reality. Fundamentalists believe they will go to a lovely magical city of gold when they die, but they are terrified of dying. They believe they are magically protected from evil because of their faith, but they are terrified that the Devil will somehow take control of them anyway. They believe that their own crimes are magically forgiven, but that everyone else's crimes will cause them to burn for eternity in Hell. They magically believe that it is murder to destroy an embryo, but that there is nothing wrong with slaughtering fully grown, living, breathing people who are thought to have broken a law, or who are simply members of a group that the fundamentalists believe their god does not like. They magically believe they are persecuted, although religious fundamentalists are actually the most numerous and most politically powerful people in the world. They magically believe they are devoted to cultivating the individual conscience and a personal relationship with God, though they actually march in lockstep and are more intolerant of free thinking than any military organization. They magically believe that they bring truth and light to the world, although the main obstacle to scientific research and discourse and progress has always been religious fundamentalism. They magically believe that they are "the way of peace" although almost all of the hundreds of millions of people who have been robbed and maimed and murdered in wholesale numbers down through the centuries have been the victims of religious fundamentalism. So it is natural that they would hate and denounce and try to outlaw a wholesome, loving relationship between two consenting adults of the same gender, and at the same time understand and accept an adulterous heterosexual relationship that involves deceit and hurt and harm. Because that is the very opposite of what logic and sense and conscience would call for.

Well number one, they are not thinking about what is going on behind closed doors, because the truth is, it is thrown in the public face everyday, on TV, in the newspaper and the radio. What the "Fundamentalist Christians" are concerned with is the effect that this is having on our society, mainly our young children. We teach in schools that it is OK to be gay, but you can be suspended for reading a bible, it is like it is okay to push one opinion and not the other. Number 2 regardless of what the Bible says, it is not up to us to judge other people, if God condemns the life style then so be it, that will be between them and God.

They are an easy group to hate and fundies have to find some cause to rally around. The glory of god is not a good rallying point, it has to be something to hate. Also, since they are so incredibly weak minded and they see satan around every corner they feel that they might get homosexual cooties and turn gay themselves, so they have to destroy what might be stronger than they are.

Hello,
Please give New Testament scriptures if you are intending to address CHRISTIANS. The Old Law was for the Israelites and does not apply to Christians at all. I do not attack others and I am a bit of a Fundamental Christian. I am not obsessed with sin as you seem to imply. I am more concerned with my own salvation that attempting to push you to GOD. I would be glad to study with you if YOU choose to do so. That is YOUR Choice, not anyone else's. Have a great weekend.
Thanks,
Eds

As far as I know, we are not obsessed with it.
That issue is just one of many that has erupted in our modern culture. Every generation has had to deal with the issues of their day, and we are no different.
As far as the other, there are reasons for everything written. Also, just because something is "archaic" does not mean it's worth being abandoned.

Don't forget that "Thou shalt not partake of anything harmful to your body." ALL OF YOU CHOLESTEROL LADEN HYPOCRITES ARE GOING TO HELL! LOL!

Seriously, there are Christians who have enough common sense to realize that the Bible is extremely open to interpretation. But I know what you mean- Why all the fuss over homosexuality? Damn! Whatever happened to that loving "God" who has "blessed" us with free will and wants us to CHOOSE "Him"?

I believe it's the "sin" many of them focus on because it's a behavior they don't participate in - it somehow makes them feel superior to others because they can point to homosexuality and ignore all the sin in their own lives.

Well..I am truly discombobulated? Don't they ever dress up and have a gay old time? I think the answer lies between two points...instinctive brainwashing and Frank Zappa's famous riposte.."What's the ugliest part of your body?..I think it's your mind."....."A young girl should marry her rapist..." Hey,were the Taliban around the time of...'Leviticitus'? What a hero and inspiration to us all...Do you think his genes still collide around this Earth? My,My..I am disillusioned..somewhat!

Probably because many of them are closet homosexuals who are afraid to "out" themselves in fear of being banished as pariahs from their lovely fundie churches. They can't live without that crutch, so they go on being something (straight) that they're really not .

Secret or latent desire?

Think about it! Product marketing campaigns are often built around the mysterious aspects of a product.
