Like many of the other posters, I love a good ol' vanilla. Especially vanilla bean, I love the flavor of this version. Vanilla is probably the most underappreciated flavor, because people think of it as "plain". I love it!

Also, one of my most favorite flavors of ice cream is Grapenut. It is sometimes difficult to find. Here in Pennsylvania, the only company that makes it (that I know of) is Hershey's (no affiliation to the chocolate makers). It is delicious!! For those who don't know what this is, it is just vanilla ice cream with Grapenuts cereal in it. Tastes way better than it sounds!!

Hubby likes vanilla but it is too boring for me. Spumoni because it is hard to find and I bet most people haven't heard of it.

Spumoni, or spumone, is a molded Italian ice cream made with layers of different colors and flavors, usually containing candied fruits and nuts. Typically it is of three flavors, with a fruit/nut layer between them. The ice cream layers are often mixed with whipped cream. Chocolate and pistachio are the typical flavors of the ice cream layers, and the fruit/nut layer often contains cherry bits.

This dish comes from Naples, and the three-flavored Neapolitan ice cream evolved from it.[1] Spumoni is virtually unknown in Italy today, but it is popular in places with large Italian immigrant populations such as the United States and Argentina. August 21 is National Spumoni Day in the US. [2]

It is an 'original' ice cream flavor, yet is considered unorthodox by today's standards and is sometimes overlooked. [citation needed] The addition of candied fruit and nuts likens the spumoni flavor to that of a fruitcake. Spumoni can be served alone, or with thin wafer or butter cookies.

I think Rum Raisin.. because I like it, but seldom eat it. That would mean it's my most "underappreaciated" (that's a long word, isn't it.. now that I see it in print). I see it there, sitting in the deli's ice counter/box thing along with the many flavored/mixes & cooler names, of Chubby Hubby and pints with celebs faces on them now... I'll choose a chocolate mint, for my wife... or some sort of chip-flavor.. something with bits of cone or pretzels or mini marshmallows in it, or worse.. whatever that is, that creates the choc. brownie in the brownie flavor.. (and say goodbye to going to the bathroom for a few days).. and through it all, over all the visits with my 6 year old to appease her needing a Push-Up Pop or blue ice of some sort... there's the Rum Raisin. Still waiting for me to choose it like I used to, when I was younger... but, I'm just not gonna.

It's rum raisin.

honestly..I think that the answer to this would be good ol' vanilla. Its not as "boring" as most people would think, especially if one takes the time to savor all the different flavors WITHIN vanilla. Its actually quite the complex flavor..with some "notes" making you smack your lips and think "hmmm...I can't quite describe it..but its really nice."

Vanilla.

Sure, alone it's a little plain.. but think of what you can DO with it! It makes floats.. doesn't overshaddow pies.. you can add virtually ANYTHING without it being "too much" (somehow double fudge ripple with hot fudge seems both gross and reduntant to me)

It's awesome, and vastlly unappreciated.
