Well it could be a lot of things.

It could be strep throat (no eating and fussy) and the test for this is an easy throat swab.

It could be teeth (Might not be molars yet, unless he has most of his other teeth).

Unless the doctor has looked at his ears and said there was not an infection, it still could be one.

It could just be being 1 and he is more aware of his surrounding and upset when you are not holding him all the time. He could be testing you.

If you are worried and he is really not eating anything take him into the Dr. and have them check.

Good luck. Just keep an eye on him and go with your gut. If you believe something is wrong you are probably right. You are the mom!

My son is 16 months and he was getting his a couple of months ago and he acted just like you said your son acted. I didn't get anything accomlpished for a couple of days but tylenol, baby orajel and something to chew on will help if you find out that is what is wrong.
BUT my son had a stomach virus a couple of weeks ago and was acting so clingy and I could not figure out why until I got the same virus a few days later and was so miserable I wanted to die. And I felt awful that I had no idea that was why he had been acting like that. If your son wants you, let him have you. Mommy is the best cure :)

He might be teething. Just hold and comfort him as much as you can. You could try a sling to make it easier to carry him around.
