you have a leak ,,or somebody over filled your trans oil

Sounds to me like the hose that runs fluid from the tranny to the tranny cooler (like a radiator) is leaking.

Look on the bottom of your radiator for a hose that leads to the transmission, pretty sure you'll find your problem there.

OR the seal at the bottom of the tranny is leaking...easy to replace.

The Ford Taurus can last, but your car is dangerous
A garage will likely send you to a Transmission place, $1,500
please- if that is the case, it is safer to dump the car

First off do you know where it comes from? A cooling hose going to the transmission cooler?

knowing from where the fluid is coming from in a general direction may help.

Haven't seen too many blow anything off the transmission, power steering line will sometimes blow off the pump, the steering pump is on the front of the motor (near belts) whereas all transmission lines are on drivers side.

Probably rusted/rotted trans cooler lines under the radiator.

have you checked to see if the dipstick for checking the fluid level is there cause if it is not it could be spraying out of that hole when the car is running
