the idea is that in heaven god will be the supreme and only ruler, right? also, feudal words like "king", "lord", and the Persian imperial title "king of kings" still persist in popular Christian speech.
so why do "we" tolerate this mere republic? why can't we declare Jesus the supreme lord and king of the world and have officers run the government in his name? surely the government of heaven is good enough for the government of earth, right?

As a Christian, I can see this would be a horrible idea. Why? It's been tried with the Catholic church. It wasn't a good idea then, and it still won't be now. At this present time, the religion of Islam is going the way the Catholic church did. Any religion that is given political/legislative authority has huge drawbacks, because so much of it is decided by mere men and their interpretation of the moment.
The church is not even to be of this world. The scriptures have shown us all governments are corrupt. We really ought not to be involved in it.

The Kingdom of Heaven is coming my friend, but man will not initiate it. Christ's return will make it happen. We are seeking the Kingdom of God as Christians and we know it is coming.
Christ says when He returns every eye will see Him. Also every knee will bow to Him . . . that is every knee. No man escapes this. We will all be judged according to the Word of God and we don't even read the Book, but Christ is the great Judge of mankind. We will all say - YES LORD.
This mere republic was established by men who knew "whom God sets free is free indeed." We have traitors in our midst who want to change the republic to suit their ungodly ways. This is not a Secular Humanists America. This is a Christian America. Maybe baby Christians but Christians indeed who love the freedom given to them by Almighty God.

Because man is a faulty creature, and does not have the wisdom of God to run earth like heaven. Even a man with the best of intentions would find himself torn between his desires and the desires of God. Look at Solomon. God gave him wisdom beyond what has been given to any other man to rule his people well. It wasn't long before he began giving in to his own wishes instead of using his godly wisdom. I mean where is the wisdom in having 700 mother-in-laws?

The ideal situation is the republic that willing chooses to honor Christ as Lord. For every knee will bow (willingly) to God in heaven....why not also on earth?
