And is rap music really "singing"? Think of all the talentless saps who cannot sing but they can remember rhymes and talk to the rhythm of the beat. BRILLIANT! Just BRILLIANT!

We've had rap around for so long now, I think there is a conspiracy amongst the rap community to keep it going as an "art form" because without it, they'd have to learn how to really sing or do something else.

I like some rap music. I really do. I've been a DJ at a major urban station where rap was a staple. But it's been DECADES now, people! When will this music style be replaced by something much better? It's because rap is more about attitude and lyrics than it is about being able to carry a real tune. So if anyone can do it, it remains present on the music landscape as the lowest common denominator.

Oh for a return to the mentality when real singing talent versus posturing and faking it, ruled the day!

the truth is that every music can sound CRAP!! not only Rap
now days everyone can be a musician and that's why we have some many Crap songs and artists the thing is that singing rap doesn't have to non melodic it's just that no one has a good talent now there are so many artists that can't sing but they are famous like hell cause they act like the own the stage and that what everyone likes "CONFIDENCE" take for instance The Killers honesty they cant SING!!!! the voice is awful but the music is pretty good and they are good entertainers! i think that a good musician singer or what ever will write his own work and make a BIG TIME there are rules in music it's like a chain everything has to fit in with one another but ppl don't do that anymore that's why we have so many bad sounds as a musician myself i know how hard it is !!
look at Ledzepplin/AC-DC/Elvis P/Kylie/James Brown/Bon Jovi/Sting/The Beatles/Beachboys/Maroon 5 lol the list goes on this guys/girls know how to make music it's easy to write some lyrics and melody but it's tough to make a GOOD lyrics and melody i have found that ppl that know how to play on more than just one instrument have more ideas and passion and talent to write some good stuff than a person that knows only one thing look at the Prince he play's alot of instruments and his stuff ROCKS!! so answering too your Q yes I am sick of this Rap music but if there would be someone that knows anything about music and made a great Rap song than it would be totally different everything has to have some kind of melody and especially if you are singing. without melody there is no song.

that's my opinion ;)

all i have to say is turn the channel, turn off the radio.....read a book or something because it seems like the music industry is feeling the rap nowadays.....im only 29, and i remember when rap wasnt played on tv....mtv was the first music television to launch an all rap show that was called yo mtv rap.....but way before then, rap was almost banned because of its gangster lyrics. rap has broken barriers, and i dont see rap going anywhere. you say you listen to some rap, well maybe that small amount that you listen to, aint worth listening to. be sure when you classify rap, you know what you are talking about because there are other classifications. there is hip hop, gangster rap, and underground. hip hop is what you hear on the radio and sometimes television.. the underground is the best because they are not talking about the same things, and that is why they are underground. mainstream is what is played on the radio/tv, and that music aint all that great because every so called rapper on radio is saying practically the same thing as the next. blame it on the music industry because music industries hop on a trend and roll with it.

I detest Rap.....There is nothing musical about it whatsoever. There is no melody, no notes, no instrumentation, no harmonics, no composition, no singing & no written lyrics, Rap is about juvenile, profane, insulting, half-rhymed words which are shouted & spit into a microphone. The frequent musical themes which promoted & condoned love & romance have been replaced by rap " songs " which promote & condone crime, drugs, gangstas, prison, pimps, shootings & hoes. Rap frequently insults & degrades women & white people.----Rappers have no desire to be able to carry a tune, but would rather display their bullet wounds & previous prison records in order to maintain their wanna be gangsta image-----I want to hear music again-----As the song said: " Bring Back Those Doo-Wops " !!!!-----When Dion & the Belmonts sung " I Wonder Why " all they needed was the echo chamber of the Subway Station to enhance their acapella songs !!!!!!!!

Yes, for a long time. I think one reason we don't have better singing because it takes discipline, lots of money for lessons, time, and patience. We are a give it to me now, instant gratification society. We don't have lots of money because corporations are run by greedy mad men. That's all they care about. They don't care about real talent. They care about what sells. They want the cheapest product with the highest return. Music is awful these days. The only shining light I see out there is Shakira. (for pop music)
Hayley Westenra is a wonderful singer.
Pink Martini is a great band with a great singer.
I like the Corrs.

I'm sick of today's rap.

Old school rap actually talked about real problems and struggles.

Rap now adays talks about bling and b!tches with videos with mostly naked women tramping around in all disgusting poses.
They've sold out to the man.

For at least 20 years. Can NOT stand it. It is not music. Music is James Taylor, John Prine, Jimmy Buffett, etc. Something involving instruments?

I'm tired of rap talking about the same old thing... growing up in the projects in single parent homes, pimping, gang-banging, treating women like ho's and how their talent gets them "bling." Let's move on to something else, please!

for you to have worked at a RADIO STATION you should know that RAPPING and SINGING are nothing SAME. ***THEIR TO TOTALITY different ways to express yourself musically and they ATTRACT different people***.

yes, most songs do rhyme but, the point here is that RAP IS A 'art form', its not easy to speak words to a beat of a song. most people (white or black or any other race) can't DANCE ON BEAT, let alone rap.

***PEOPLE THAT CAN'T SING BUT, STILL WANT TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES MUSICALLY RAP INSTEAD.***

i will admit that the rap of today isn't the same rap as yesterday (old school), but, PEOPLE ARE STILL BUYING IT (especially white people) so please don't focus your ENERGY on the RAPPERS that make the music. FOCUS your energy on the people that BUY IT.

***THOSE RAPPERS ARE FEEDING THEIR FAMILIES, GIVING BACK TO THEIR COMMUNITIES AND CREATING A BETTER LIFE FOR THE MOTHER, FRIENDS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY CHILDREN.***

***MOST IMPORTANTLY THEIR FAMILIES OR BABIE's MAMA'S AREN'T ON wel-fare so, YOUR TAX DOLLARS AREN'T BEING SPENT ON THEM.***
