I know what the box says, but are they really healthier than a regular egg, seeing as they are "manufactured"?

Ahh... I agree, they taste great (easy for baking, too). I also know they are healthier in cholesterol, fat, etc... I just wasn't sure HOW they are manufactured to be so healthy... ie chemicals and stuff... thanks for all the great answers so far! :-)

They have less fat/cholesterol than eggs.

Whether the cholesterol reduction is offset by the food additives, is an open question.

The food industry would argue everything they use/do is safe and healthy. The "natural foods" crowd will argue that various additives are dangerous.

It's left to us and researchers to decide.

They are healthier because they lack cholesterol, they do have a similar taste of eggs, for those who feel deprived of eggs or need to cook for someone who needs to lower their cholesterol; its a good thing.
Most everything is manufactured by some company, even organic veggies need processing by other people. If you worry about things being manufactured you will eat nothing but what you can grow in your own garden.

Yes, they are healthier. Egg beaters is mostly egg whites, eggs can be bad for you because the yolk is very high in cholesterol. My bf has high cholesterol so he cannot eat real eggs often but he can still eat egg beaters every day. Cholesterol is basically animal fat and blocks arteries which causes heart attacks and strokes. Also egg beaters are lighter in calorie content.

They are basically colored egg whites. The yolks have been romved. The yolk is what contains the fat, cholesterol, and also the iron and beneficial fatty acids. It is recommended to have up to 1 whole egg per day for godo health. Use egg beaters if you like, but real eggs are cheaper.

If what the labels say is true - lower fat and calories......I would consider that healthier.
