Re: needing a passport: If you are flying here, yes, if you are driving here, no.

Don't bring any fruit or meat across the border.

It can be lots of fun, it depends on where you are going. Big city? Small town?
Drinking age is 18 or 19, depending on what province you go to.

Alcohol is fairly expensive. Both in the store, and at the pub. You can't buy alcohol at the corner store in most places - you have to go to a beer store or liquor store.
If you say where in Canada you are going, I could give more info. Have fun!

You don't need a passport yet. Passports for land crossing keep getting put off. Who knows if it will ever happen?

NOT YET. BUT YOU DO NEED A VALID PICTURE ID, AND YOUR BIRTH CERT, WHICH VERIFIES CITIZENSHIP. BE PREPARED TO ANSWER VARIOUS QUESTIONS ABOUT DESTINATION AND LENGTH OF TIME OF STAY. SOME CARS ARE RANDOMLY SEARCHED... WHICH IS CALLED ZERO HOUR. MORE IMPORTANTLY, EVERY PERSON, INCLUDING CHILDREN NEED TO HAVE ID, AND WILL BE ASKED INDIVIDUAL, OR DIFFERENT QUESTIONS. HAVE FUN IN CANADA
