No the first time they fought was in 1978 in Boloxi Miss and Tubbs won the National title

They fought many times as amateurs , and no doubt could have met one another during 76 but not in the trials. Page did decision Tony in finals of National AAU's in 78. Tony won the 1979 National AAU's.
