is there anyway to play a windows 95 or windows nt game on a xp operating system?

i have this old game that i am looking to play it worked on my older computer but i tried to install it on my windows xp and couldnt intall it i am looking for a solution to this problem

1.create a folder at desktop,put any name.
2.First drag all folders,everything inside the CD into the folder you created before.
3.double-click the folder, find the setup file.
4. right click the setup file, select Properties
5. find Compatibility
6. select Run this program in compatibility mode for: [Windows 95]
7. Click apply and ok
