It's always hard on the body when going to the gym for the first time, so this is normal.
Give yourself at least a day's rest. Drink plenty of fluids and maybe take some Tylenol or Ibuprofen for the pain. Then you should be good to go.
It's actually important to go back as soon as you are able in order to let your muscles know that you are starting an exercise routine...otherwise, the soreness will happen every time.
Good luck to you!

Take a day off if your muscles are sore. Since you're just starting out, allow some time for your muscles to adjust to the gym schedule.

Yes, you're muscles hurt because of lactic acid. If it's your legs that hurt, then get on a stationary bike and do a 20 minute light workout - just keeping your legs spinning to get the blood pumping through. This will loosen up and flush out the lactic acid. Then do 20 minutes of stretching.

Yes, I do it all the time! If your really sore, as in you can't walk without it hurting pretty bad, then take a day off but no more! Also, drink plenty of water and eat something with protein like eggs or a protein shake right after you work out to help your body rebuild.

Hey! I am a trainer. It depends on when your last (first) workout was and what you did. If you did cardio (treadmill, elliptical) you can workout the next day. If you lifted weights, everyone should take a day off of lifting. You can however still go and do a cardio workout.

Just remember, listen to your body. Stretch after each workout. And always ask if you have a question!

It is ok to work out if you are still stiff from the day before. Try to do some stretching first. It will go away in a few days.

Yes...Take a couple of 500mg. Tylenol about 1/2 hour before you leave for the gym, and you will do just fine.

I think it would be a good idea to give your body a rest for a day or so. You don't want to hurt/strain yourself, especially if this is your first time working out.
