Should not an ungrown adult be given all the rights of a grown adult?
Just because thei're little doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to make decisions about their sexuality and give consent. They should be allowed to marry whoever they want and vote and drive cars. They should be allowed to enter into contrats and adopt children. We need to stop pretending that the Ungrown are somehow less that the Grown.
Do you agree?

That would be "they're," not "thei're." And here I thought we were out of new ways to mess up the their / there / they're thing! ;-)

For the record, I know this is a stupid argument. But so is calling a blastocyst a baby.

I love you.
"but that doesn't mean we should give their mother's the right to end their lives if they feel for some reason they are not suited to raise that child."
Oh wow.
So do we really need more messed up children with moms like Britney Spears?
No thanks.
That is unforgivable. You force someone to bring a child into this world they don't even want. You don't care what happens after that, even if the child's soul is sucked right out of them from being unwanted.
Nice.
Jan you are totally right. In order to humanize that which is not human, we dehumanize someone who is already human. She becomes a second class citizen to a parasite.

Define ungrown adult??
Are you referring to dwarfs? They have all the rights of a 'grown' adult. If you are referring to mentally challenged, then no they don't have the same rights as other adults. Some do not have the neccesary skills to do things such as drive. Some don't have the mental capacity to debate issues that make being able to vote in our society a great priviledge. Some don't understand the concept of love and don't have the skills to raise a child. But that isn't to say that there aren't others who do, and should be given all the rights that can physically, mentally and emotionally handle.
Or are you referring to a teenager? Teenagers don't have the emotional maturity to make the same decisions that adults do. It's part of the growing process. They are given freedoms when they are ready for them, not when they think they are. While some mature faster than others, most have a false sense of maturity that only displays a complete lack thereof.
But you are also comparing apples and oranges. An unborn child cannot fight for it's own rights. It is completely helpless and it's only real right is to be kept safe and alive. Giving an unborn child 'rights' is only about protecting what can't protect itself.

In the Roman Empire, at the time attributed to Saul/Paul, not only was abortion common, but infanticide (killing of infants) up to 1 year of age was also common practice. This is not addressed in any of the letters of Paul included in the New Testament. If this was such an important issue, would this venerated father of the Church not have said something? After all, he chastised men for having long hair! Read the 27th chapter of Leviticus to see the monetary value of a person (females, of course, being worth 50-60% less than males to God). Christian arguments about abortion have no scriptural support. In fact, Exodus 21:22-23 basically says causing a woman who does not want an abortion to miscarry is only a monetary penalty.

No, not at all. Our brains continue to learn as we grow. Life experiences cannot be beaten for learning, either. I don't want the 14 yr old, down the street, driving a car. I don't want the 12 yr old adopting babies, either. I believe that adults make terrible mistakes in judgments all the time. It is nearly impossible for those, younger, to do better.

"ungrown" adult? Interesting new made-up word. Actually an "ungrown" adult already has a name...it's called a "child". Maybe you've heard of 'em.

When we have children it's our duty as parents to PROTECT our children from doing and engaging in wrong behavior. This is why we need God in our lives. Some how we as adults have failed to be parents to our children and it starts with a woman thinking she has the right to abort the life of another person because this little person is not dear enough and life has become cheap. Look where this has lead......

I don't see a connection between treating unborn children as humans and allowing people who do not have the capacity to make such decisions to make them for themselves.

no, I don't
I don't believe in anti-abortionists (the so called "pro-life" group, who also support the death penalty), and think they belong in sanitariums.
but your argument doesn't make sense because we restrict things based on age and emotional development as well.
also the right in question is a basic right, not an "extended" one that comes with a tag of some form of emotional development and maturity and intellectual development.
(although you could make a pretty good argument that a fetus is in most cases more intellectually developed than most grown "pro-lifers"- but that is a different matter)

Their right to live should be the same, but not all rights. We don't give 3 year-olds the right to drive a car or marry for good reasons...but that doesn't mean we should give their mothers the right to end their lives if they feel for some reason they are not suited to raise that three-year-old.
