No it will never be better than XP.
Just like Vista & XP will never be better than Linux Ubuntu 7.10.

While Vista has made some improvements over XP, I still find that XP overall seems to be a better choice at this time. I have both XP Pro (1 PC, for many years) and Vista Home Premium (3 PCs, for about 4 months now). I've been trying to find a reason to leave the Vista machines with Vista, but after problems using them with World of Warcraft on a wireless network, I'll be testing XP Pro to see if they perform any better.
Problems:
- Frequent disconnect from the wireless router. The 3 Vista PCs disconnect several times in the evening while my family is playing the game. I have a work laptop (XP Pro) and occasionally work from home without any disconnects. Granted this is not doing the transfer that a game does so I'm going to test before assuming it is just the OS.
- Severe game lag in the World of Warcraft cities while using Vista. The hardware on the Vista machines is by far superior to my older XP Pro PC, yet the XP Pro PC experiences a lot less lag.
Depending how testing goes with XP Pro on one of the 3 current Vista systems, I'll determine if I stay at Vista or downgrade all to XP. From other benchmark reviews I've read, it really sounds like XP SP3 improves the XP OS performance about 10% more than Vista SP1 (at least from the early testers). I'm hoping Vista does make some improvements though so we eventually see some DirectX 10 games.
