Any suggestions or things I should look for? I was thinking I need her for 8 hrs-- from 2pm-10pm...Whatcha think? Their will be two photographers (I'm paying their dinner too--do I tip?:) for 8 hrs and a tremedous package--plus I get to keep all my photo's on a cd afterwards too--it's $1200.00. Is that pretty good?

So 7 hrs would be better? Humm...I thought 8 would give the photographer plenty of time to get all the shots of our quests & room stuff too...

I seem to disagree with the others on here. You do want them to stay til the end of the reception that way you have pics of you and your new hubby leaving the reception and getting into the car.
Ask them if they will be taking pics of you getting ready. My photographer is including this (than again its a family friend)
I would think if you are paying for their dinner that you dont need to tip them. If you do feel like tipping them I wouldnt do much maybe 50 or so.
In your package are they making you any or of album with some of your fav pics or are you just getting the photos and a cd? If not this is something to ask about. Most photographers do this as a little something special.
Hope this helps.

That's a good deal...especially since you get to keep the photos afterwards. I know that photographers can seem very expensive, but it's worth it if you get good photos.
I advise you to ask for as many sample albums and thumbnails of images as possible. You can never see too much of their work. The more they are willing to show you, the more you can judge if they are a correct fit for you.
Also, take note of the way you interact, personality-wise. These people will be following you about all day, and it's important that you get along and are comfortable with one another, otherwise that lack of compatibility will show through in your photographs.
Feeding them is a good idea-since they will be working a very long day for you.

You probably wont need them till 10 PM. The pictures at the reception will be the first dances, the toasts, the garter throw, the bouquet toss and the cake cutting. These will be over long before 10 PM. Go over the timeline with them to see what they suggest. You do pay for dinner but dont have to tip. They are professionals who are quoting you a price for the whole package. Sounds like you are getting a good deal. I would ask to see some samples of their work though and ask for some references.

Always go for the longest time available. No one can completely avoid time-delaying incidents, such as a late ceremony start, late limo driver, flowery delivery person getting lost, etc. Imagine your reception in full swing when your photographer taps you on the shoulder as soon as his watch hits that 8th hour to let you know he's leaving (or pay an extra $200 per hour for him to stay). Then you won't get pictures of you & your groom leaving in your getaway car or any other pictures that you ran out of time for.
As far as pricing goes, that really varies, you should do some research on other photographers in your area & compare:
1) the quality of their work
2) package options (including amount time at event)
3) total cost

$1200 sounds incredibly reasonable. As far as timeline goes, they are the experts so they will help you set it. They should offer you some sort of checklist of the shots that are important to you, or things you don't want. Also, make sure that you are getting the person you think you are getting and they are not going to have an intern show up on the day. You may want to ask how many events they do in one day, to make sure they are not going to be rushing or running late. Good luck!

I think that would be a good plan. That way it gives you more than enough time. Do you want the shots of you getting dressed? You should ask them how early they think they should arrive to get those pictures.
Also, good plan on feeding them. You should plan for most of your vendors needing to eat, if they will be there for a long time. And you should also tip all of your vendors, based upon their performance. This includes the photographer, videographer, DJ, band, wedding planner, etc.

Yeah, I would wait until tomorrow.... I mean, you could call, but chances are you are going to get her voice mail anyway and you would have to wait to hear back from her anyway. Either way... I don't think she would be offended if you called. If she answers, that means she doesn't mind talking. If she doesn't answer, then she's waiting until tomorrow to take calls and you can just leave her a message to call you as soon as she can. It's not like it's Christmas or anything....

I think this all sounds good. It is so nice to have the pictures on CD. I ended up saving a lot of money on pictures. I can tell you what we had, so you can compare.
Our package included the following for $2,500.
10 hours of photography, a complete set of proofs, a leather bound album of our choice of pictures, a cd of digital negatives, a DVD slideshow, engagement sitting.

That sounds good. They will have an idea of a timeline too if they have done this before so you can look at both and agree on what makes sense. I think you are definitely on the right track though.
