Discipline is a good thing and allows for boundary's. But because of the do gooders it has been eliminated from society, hence the unruly and barbaric behaviour we now have to bear and witness every day... Children need sound guidance and discipline from their parents, so they can grow and respect their surrounding world. Parents who love their children will practise this.. Sadly though the do gooders have brought this Country to the depths of despair and I feel so sad for those who are trying to bring up their children in today's society because all their good work will be abused and trodden on....... Do gooders have a lot to answer for...... But then again look who their mentor was? The Iron Lady herself........

We did have the Birch years ago which ,noting from history of the UK proved to be a n excellent deterrent.
I cannot understand why this right to use was taken away from the authorities,if this was brought back in to use , possibly for crimes that warranted its use, I feel it could seriously alter the level of thuggery at the moment with us in the UK.
Possession of a firearm, GBH, and crimes of that nature,Terrorists, the list is endless.
My feeling is forget the doctrine of Brussels We want our streets back, and a safer UK>this would be welcomed by many police, and certainly civilians who are afraid to go out in the evening.

I'd sooner bring back the pillory and stocks, then throw rotten eggs, tomatoes, etc, at them. I think 40 lashes would be a badge of honour to these "hard men", whereas we need to make them a laughing stock. Members of the public could join in, and it would be a communal effort.

Don't think so. Those drunken chavs need public humiliation, any other "punishment" they eventually brag about.

Thank God we have got rid of beating in this country! If it did tho' why not apply it to the purveyors of alcohol and the people who make profits out of others misery? Beating is just a form of bullying, bullies are those who promote it's use.

Well it would defiantly & dramatically reduce crime. But there will always be those deluded people who have never encountered these kinds of people who will say that it’s inhumane.
