I'm from the south and a decendent of a doctor who came to Texas in the early 1800's. With him came all his slaves (though I'm not proud of it). This was part of their culture. This flag is part of our heritage and history. It was flown under such troubled times for our country. Whether we all agree on what it stands for or not, it's time to place this flag in a place of honor (museum would be good), maybe to remind all of us, no matter our race or color, that we don't want this to happen again. It's sad that many have taken this flag and made it their symbol for racism.

For many of us Southerners, the Confederate flag is NOT a racial statement. It is simply a part of our history. Many of us had ancestors who fought under that flag and many died under that flag. I think it's time the government made LESS laws, not more. Leave our flag alone.
