I answered a question the other day. The asker was visiting my city and asked if the hotel she had chosen was central and well located. I told her that while it was central, the area was rough and as a female traveller she would be better looking for a hotel in a different part of the city centre. The result was that I got lots of thumbs down. She chose an answer approving her choice of hotel as the best answer and just said that she hoped the negative answers weren't true.
So why did she ask in the first place?

It has become my belief that most people only want confirmation of their own answers rather than approving of someone's factual answer. Once someone has made up their mind, 90% or more, yet still asks about the subject, 10% doubtful, all they really want is someone who agrees with them.

A girl on here called Ashley asked for ideas for hummous I politely gave her some of my experience of cooking. She then kicks off at me for being an Ominvore (she it turns out is Vegan) I am all for people choosing their lifesyles, but the hassle. Anyway, looked at some of her other questions, it seems this young woman has a lot of hatred coming from somewhere. Admittedly some people had obviously tried to wind her up, but many were just trying to answer her questions, and anyone she didn't agree with, she openly slagged them off and openly said she would try to get them band from Yahoo Answers. What a sad little case.

People often just ask in high hopes of getting a positive answer, a compliment, or praise, and then get angry when you don't say what they wanted you to say.
It's annoying, I know. If someone asks a question, they're automatically agreeing to get positive and negative answers.
People need to remember that and not get so angry when someone gives a negative answer.

Who knows - I haven't seen the answer. But it could be lots of reasons. It could had been construed that you were being sexist. Depends on the area you spoke about too - you could had been using some sort of prejudice to imply your reason for believing the area is rough and the questioner picked up on that. It really could be anything though.

A lot of people do not like to hear negative responses. I know when someone asks a question they should be open-minded enough to receive positive and negative answers but unfortunately people do not work like that.

Some people are just stupid. Don't worry about it. Many is the time I have given a perfectly good answer to a question and received loads of thumbs down.

No matter what anybody says,we all should do our own things and be responsible for the outcome.You did your job and there the matter finishes.Why take to your heart?There never was and shall never be dearth of ungrateful people.That's the approved design of the world and ,you,me or for that matter,anybody ,can't change it.So be it.Move on.

Because apparently people don't care about the truth anymore. They just want people to kiss their @ss and tell them what they want to hear. And if it isn't what they want to hear, to hell with them. Everyone thinks their opinion is the right one and that if someone else has a different one, they don't deserve recognition.

Hoping to hear the answers they want to hear & not the ones they don't want!
most get the ones they do not want cause it is the right answer so it makes them mad LOL!
