No. Is eating food a waste of time ? Christ (the living word) is the bread of life. God's word is our life sustaining bread (food).

To study ANYTHING at all is never a waste of time as long as you are learning something in the process. It also depends on a person's values, interests, and their point of view on things. One person's study of something may be important to him/her, but can be foolish and a total waste of time to someone else.

It is nver a waste of time
Your question implies that you believe in the existence of GOD. Then how can you ask us whether that it would be a waste of time to study God's words (Bhagawat Gita- in Sanskrit)

I don't suppose it would be, if there was any evidence of anything being the word of god, but if you mean the bible, I wasted plenty of time studying it, but I'm over it now, thank the goddess )O(

It is not a waste of time to grow closer to our Creator and learn of how we can be assured of eternal life with Him in heaven.
As Rick Warren says in "The Purpose Driven Life," we will spend more time on the other side of eternity than on this side, so life should be preparation for eternity.

I don't know of anything that any god wrote.

There's lots of nonsense that people claim was "inspired" by some god or another, and most of those are a waste of time. Some of them have decent poetry and stories, and I suppose they're good as a guide to what people thought back then, but that's about it.

No, its the reason we are on this earth, we learn about God and praise him...the rest of what we enjoy on earth are fringe benefits.

Yes, and no.
Yes if what you're being taught is incorrect, and no when you are finding the truth.
