Please remember that God is one in Hinduism too.... we call that one God Aum,/ Brahmm/Turiya... and no temple or idols are made of that One God.

Guru Nanak was a reformist hindus and started his Panth (Branch not a separate religion), against the social evils prevailing in India.

His teachings are mainly from Vedanta philosophy of hinduism and sayings of Sufis.

It is only their last guru Gobind singhji who fought with Muslima invaders that Sikhs were given special identity (turbans, beards,etc)...as a uniform for soldiers.

Even now in Punjab one child from many hindu familes is made a Sikh.

Sikhism was organised to fight Islam's invasions and forcible conversions....after their 9th guru Teg Bahadur was brutally murdered for not accepting Islam in Chandani Chowk Delhi... and four children of 10th guru gobind singh were killed like animals by muslim invaders.

Sikhism is one of the ways of worships and the literature "Guru Grantha Sahib" contains many principles for other religions. Mainly it has taken help of Hinduism. They worship Lord Shiva alone and give more importance to Guru, the spiritual teacher. Now a days, as there is less possibility to find highly spiritted and powerful human guru, they have fixed 'Grantha Sahib" as Guru and all scrupulously abide by the principles laid down there. Though there are some quotes taken as guidelines, it is not nearer to Islam.

Hi,
first i wld like 2 thank u for giving me an opportunity for clearing ur doubt.
Gurunanak r Wahe guru wat he said was there is only one god it dosen't means that he asked to worship himself.
Only in Islam it was clearly stated, belived and proved that there exist only one Almighty and all other Great peoples who have given tthe messages from god were Messengers.
Even Sai Baba's actual name was Sybaba who also said tat only one god exist(Sabka Maalik Ek Hai).Though he was not a messenger people got influenced by him and started worshipping. He asked to worship only one Almighty.
Hope this was usefull and i am really sry if my answer has Hurt any other peoples sentiments religiously.

I wanted to add that the g-d in sikhism isa different concept than in Islam, and other mono-thiest faiths. Sikh's(and i am generalizing so it may not be true for all sikh's) believe that G-d is formless, eternal, and unobserved.
