yes, if they take it as fantasy just like any other work of fiction. You dont have to believe that it could happen to enjoy it.

Sure, I've enjoyed SciFi/Fantasy as both a believer and as an atheist. I realize that it is a story/book/movie and not a statement of truth. Contrast this with the "religious" fervor over "The Da Vinci Code" which was a fiction book but many believers treated like a non-fiction book.
I would worry more about people that can not differentiate between fantasy and reality.

Absolutely.I am definitely a "serious"atheist.OK,maybe I'm not TOO serious about anything,but I "seriously"don't believe in god.
The Hobbit,LOTR trilogy, the Earthsea Trilogy, and many others.I really enjoy reading them.I love the idea of elves and wizards and dwarfs and orcs and unicorns.I never once thought the stories were actual events, nor the characters actual characters.Simply a great fantasy adventure.
Think about what you are saying between the lines.Since you think atheists cannot be "serious" and enjoy BLATANTLY FANTASTIC tales, the reverse would be you are admitting Christians have a propensity to believe BLATANTLY FANTASTIC stories.HMMMM

I'm an atheist, and not only do I read fantasy, I write it. There's a HUGE difference between enjoying it as fiction and believing in it.

Yes. I read Alan Dean Foster, Stephen King, Larry Niven, I watch movies like "What Dreams May Come," movies by M. Night Shyamalan (can be cheesy, but good), "The Never Ending Story," etc...
I'm a real atheist and I like (scratch that...LOVE) fiction. I just don't live by it.

You use the word 'fantasy' in your question but apparently don't know the meaning. Look it up in the dictionary and you will have answered your own question.
The real trick is being able to separate fact from fantasy.

of course. i'm an outright atheist and i love fantasy and sci-fi. being in reality all the time can get dull take me where i can imagine anything.
also while watching a movie i even ignore historical inaccuracies and bad data and my mom, who is a christian, gets bent out of shape about it.

Of course.
Fiction is wonderful. It shows the beauty of creation. Imagination isn't restricted to believers, you know.
