(1 Tim 2:9-12 NRSV) also that the women should dress themselves modestly and decently in suitable clothing, not with their hair braided, or with gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, …
Let a woman learn in silence with full submission.
I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she is to keep silent.
(1 Tim 2:13-14 NRSV) For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was *not deceived*, but the woman *was deceived* and became a transgressor.
So Eve was deceived, therefore the judgments of all descendent women are inferior according to the Apostle Paul.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE FROM THE BIBLE THAT WOMEN ARE SECOND RATE

Lion of Judah-just because you say gotcha doesn't make it so, read the bible and you'll see that the men who wrote this book have a clear problem with women.

Yes, women are supposed to LEARN in silence. I agree with that. People should all learn in silence. Obviously, women disrupting services was a big problem back then, or else that wouldn't have been written.
As for the "I permit no women...to have authority over a man," that's a mistranslation. Go figure. The Greek word used actually meant "to usurp" not "to have."
Read Galatians 3:28 and 1 Corinthians 11:11-16.

Try reading the gospel of Luke before making such a prejudicial statement like that. The problem with picking up the New Testament and rummaging around looking for 'modern flaws' is that you did not live in that time period.
Luke's gospel was written after Paul's letters and the take is completely different.
There is a story from India about blind men each touching an elephant, one the trunk, one the hide, and one the tail, their "image of the elephant was completely different from each other" though it was the same elephant.
When you blindly skip around in the Bible not looking for the complete Word of God but just look for "modern negative' or "PC" you will find it. Paul's' society was different from ours and we should take that into consideration when reading his letters..

Re: the part about women dressing modestly.
Apparently God never traveled to the Deep South USA, or any other areas of the globe where the temps and humidity hover near 100, where less clothing=better.

Paul was in error. He was merely holding fast to the traditions of his era. He had quite an ego and everything he wrote isn't ordained by God or Jesus. Paul inserted many of his own opinions into the new doctrine he created in the Bible. Jesus believes that men and women are equal. He did not preach what Paul preached.

Yes, Eve was deceived and ate the fruit of knowledge (although how she could be held accountable for doing something "evil" before she had the knowledge of good and evil has always seemed a bit off to me)--but Adam could still have said no.
He just couldn't bear the thought that a woman might be smarter than him; so he had to eat it, too and then blame her for the rest of time for the consequences.
Wah.

No. It's all allegory in both covenants: Galatians 4.
Jesus notably called his mom "woman", and twice;
And neither Jn 2:4 nor Jn 19:26 were a compliment.
Woman is allegory for church, bride, and "people". Eg:
Woman: dble "Amen amen" to blessed + cursed: Num 5.
People: dble "Amen, amen" to blessed + cursed: Neh 8.
Where no law, there no transgression: Rom 4:15
Woman, dec'd, was in transgression: 1Tim 2: 14
So the dec'd woman was in the law. Selah.
"There is no respect of persons with God".
Adam = "male and female": "them": Gen 5.
Forgive "them", for they know not.
As in "Adam" all die.
It's not about male vs female.
It's all about law vs grace.
It's now the age of grace.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Funny thing about Paul. He sure put a lot of women in positions of some authority for a "misogynist". Prisca, Lydia, several others, including one he himself called an "Apostle".
Maybe you'd be better off actually reading Acts and Paul's Letters instead of taking some twit's word for what they say.

Some believe Paul had some difficulties with some women Church members so he told them to shut up...oops...be quiet in his Church. Today, some non-profit Churches look poorly on women, especially women legally married to ordained male ministers.
Some ministers surround themselves exclusively with unmarried men only.

You are using the wrong user name, Don Novello made up the character Fr. Guido and he is a guy who really loves women and would never be so insulting.
