Well, he killed two million people while satan has a whopping 10 murders under his belt. Goes to show, he's not as merciful as once thought!

Maybe he was afraid they could get to the patent office before he did....

Had to stop them somehow, right?

You need the entire context to understand. Read the whole of 1Sa 6:11-21

The return of the Ark from the Philistines was an occasion for great rejoicing, offering of sacrifices, and thanksgiving, yet Jehovah “struck down the people with a great slaughter.” Why? “Because they had looked upon the ark of Jehovah” in violation of his command.

Nu 4:6- And they must put a covering of sealskins over it and spread out an entire cloth of blue on top and put in its poles.

Nu 4:20- And they must not come in to see the holy things for the least moment of time, and so they have to die.

So 70 men were gathered around a table sized box to look into to it? This seems a bit strange, as that's a large number of people to be trying to peer into a small container.

Disobedience causes death my brother. I have no right to even answer that question, since I am living in rebellion to God's word right now. Even the New Testament says when we disobey God we will reap spiritual and physical death. I am stepping on my own toes this morning. I need to quit answering these questions, it is makeing me feel guilty.

The ark of the Covenant emitted a powerful jolt of electricity, like lightning. When the men looked into it, they took their life into their hands.

Oh ugh, such logic you use. God tells everybody "don't touch it, it'll kill you" and they go ahead and do it anyway ... and die for it.

If I tell you not to stick that metal hangar into a light socket, and you do it anyway, are you going to blame me for that? With your logic, you would.
